Historia
Gordie Howe may have been the greatest player in the history of hockey, but greatness was never defined by goals or assists in the Howe household. Greatness meant being the best person you could be, not the best player on the ice. Unlike his two brothers, Murray Howe failed in his attempt to follow in his father's footsteps to become a professional athlete. Yet his failure brought him to the realization that his dream wasn't really to be a pro hockey player. His dream was to be his father. To be amazing at something, but humble and gracious. To be a hero.

Historia
Russia, 1941. Katya Ivanova is a young pilot in a far-flung military academy in the Ural Mountains. From childhood, she's dreamed of taking to the skies to escape her bleak mountain life. With the Nazis on the march across Europe, she is called on to use her wings to serve her country in its darkest hour. Not even the entreaties of her new husband—a sensitive artist who fears for her safety—can dissuade her from doing her part as a proud daughter of Russia.

Historia
In the present day, as the man-made apocalypse unfolds, three strangers navigate the chaos. Lila, a doctor and an expectant mother, is so shattered by the spread of violence and infection that she continues to plan for her child’s arrival even as society dissolves around her. Kittridge, known to the world as "Last Stand in Denver", has been forced to flee his stronghold and is now on the road, dodging the infected, armed but alone and well aware that a tank of gas will get him only so far. April is a teenager fighting to guide her little brother safely through a landscape of death.

You feel like you are one of the characters
Revisado: 11-29-12
If you could sum up The Twelve: A Novel in three words, what would they be?
Exciting, Terrifying, Imaginative
What did you like best about this story?
The characters. You grow to love many, truly dispise others and feel compassion for the pathetic creatures that are the result of the tragedy that befell them.
Which scene was your favorite?
To hard to choose one. It would be like asking me to choose my favorite Led Zepplin song.
Any additional comments?
I really enjoyed the first book in the trilogy "The Passage" and was looking forward to this book for several months. This is my first experience with a sequal as good or better than the original book. I felt like I was experiencing the story as a participant looking back on my own account of what had happened. You really feel as if you are there, stalking virals or being stalked. I now have to get used to listening to good and average books until the next Justin Cronin release.
