Revisado: 01-16-21
Tamara Leigh has a way of intwining history and fiction to keep you entertained and engrossed in medieval time romance that teaches a principal of Gods love. I love all her books but I’m a particular fan of her medevil work.
This age of conquest series will not disappoint. Especially book 5 as we entwine the reckless Nicolai and Vitallies in a crazy adventure surrounding Norman, Saxon and Dane conquest over England.
Love this book
Mary Sarah aglitotta is an amazing narrator that brings this story to life. Don’t ever switch narrators !

Narrator excellent

They say that men make a better narrator, and in this case I will agree,
As for the story...it was an adventure. I liked it but a couple of critiques that I won’t bother mentioning since my opinion is not that of an expert.
The story is clean and that’s what I look for, and I do believe the author did a good job capturing the distinct differences in both 2009 and 1865. Language was unnecessary in both era.

Disappointed
Revisado: 08-11-20
The story was entertaining enough at first albeit predictable.
A little romance, a little adventure and rescue. However I was greatly disappointed that the author felt a need to included a more then spicy sensual scene between the main hero and his ward. It seemed needless and over the top to write this scene when the author had a good clean story going. I try to avoid these types of sensual scene and I’m disappointed it suddenly appeared in the middle of the story.
Audible needs to provide warning of these types of stories.

My name is Rae, and this is my story. Regretfully, it begins on a sad note. Everything was taken from me when my husband died in a tragic car accident. The only person on Earth who could have possibly been hurting more than me was my beloved mother-in-law, Laura, who lost her husband and only sons in the same accident.

What a great retelling of Naomi, Ruth and Boaz Bible story.
Sweet and clean.
I loved it. The narrator did a great job with the New York Italian accents.
The characteristic of Ruth comes out in Ray.
Dominic is the modern day Boaz.

Is this another Kevin kostner Robin Hood ?
Revisado: 08-04-20
The narration was not bad, it was the recording that sucked. The recordings was of poor quality. It sounded like she was recording in an empty room and was far from the mic.
The story line however was horrible. I only made it to chapter 4 when I realized the story was going to get sexually explicit and I try to avoid sexually explicit stories. Why audible can’t seam to provide some form of screening for those of us who don’t read/listen to porn.
I stoped after the 3rd or 4th time Sir Thomas kept identifying his sexual desire for the time traveled Marian in a degrading and derogatory manner. Great “hero”.
The author also portrayed a spiritually sound Muslim who was quick to believe in Marian’s divine arrival (theologians puzzling) yet despite his horrid back story he had a grand faith in Allah while both Marian and Sir Thomas struggled with their own personal Christian faith. Typical slant on Christianity and the lack of true Christian faith these types of novel like to depict. As If the Christians invading Jerusalem did not begin with all the surroundings Arab nations around the Middle East invading Jerusalem prior to Christianity. Ummmm do you think the previous invaders also did not pillage and burn and robbed the temple of its wealth. Babylon! Medes! Persians ! Yet once again the portrayal of the Christina faith, along with the Bishop of Durham (obvious bad guy) portrays Christianity as the evil ungodly catalyst to the downfall of mankind. Sounds very Kevin Costner Robin Hood.
No, this story is not for me despite its potential for a good story line. I love time travel and medevil. I recommend books from Tamara Leigh a highly qualified clean romance historical medevil author.

Pretty silly
Revisado: 08-03-20
Pros: clean
I especially love medevil time and time travel
Cons: narrator lacked the ability to do accents as well as give the characters some distinction between them. They pretty much sounded the same. Main hero, William was one of the most annoyingly drone voice.
Story line was ridiculous (spoiler alert) Lucy marries the bad guy Simeon because he tricks her into “faking“ a wedding to amuse him. Really!!!!! How stupid are you.
Lucy is considered brave because she doesn’t cry....well okay.
Lucy is able to cook miraculously with little to no ingredients in medevil time on medevil cookware. Ha!!!!!
Finishing this story, the hero William is gagged and tied and yet miraculously he is able to talk and rescue Lucy.
Sigh I can’t listen to book 2 or 3.

Uggg 2nd time I tried
Revisado: 05-27-20
This is the second attempt to get through this book. I just can’t!
Why when the main charechter realizes they have traveled through time can this college educated dim wit who majored in history not simply figure out the appropriate non 20th century response. She knows nothing!
She not only talks uneducated and disrespectful for someone in her own time but in an obviously wealthy society where she is trying to deceive others Of her real identity, she can’t figure out that responding with “yeah, what’s up, ok” and other contemporary teenage slang is not appropriate. 🙄
And why would any high bred intelligent man find her endearing? Because ......he can converse with her, she brings something of intelligent value to the table? NOPE!
I found the storyline childish with non childish implications. No vulgarity which is a plus, but just too silly and immature with underdeveloped characters.
