Historia
Charlie Reade looks like a regular high school kid, great at baseball and football, a decent student. But he carries a heavy load. His mom was killed in a horrific accident when he was seven, and grief drove his dad to drink. Charlie learned how to take care of himself—and his dad. When Charlie is seventeen, he meets a dog named Radar and her aging master, Howard Bowditch, a recluse in a big house at the top of a big hill, with a locked shed in the backyard. Sometimes strange sounds emerge from that shed.

Enjoyable story
Revisado: 11-03-22
I really enjoyed this book. Very creative twist on fairy tales blended with reality. It actually read like two different books. Part Charlie's relationship with his father and Mr Bowditch and part 2 the fairytale. Very entertaining.

They cannot escape the feeling that someone—or something—is stalking them. kept my interest
Revisado: 01-31-20
I enjoy historical fiction, so this novel checked that box. Much has been written about the Donner Party, so I initially enjoyed the supernatural twist... until I didn't. The revelation of the supernatural causes fell flat.
There were lots of storylines and at times it got confusing.
Also its not a spoiler to say.that.pretty much everyone dies at the end which wouldn't be so bad but I was really rooting for a few of the characters.

When Freya Miller is struck by tragedy, losing her husband and her home within a short time, she is burdened with many worries. The main one being where she and her five-year old daughter, Skye, are going to live. A chance meeting with the charismatic Dr Marsden changes all that. He offers the young mother the most amazing opportunity: an apartment at one of London’s most exclusive addresses for a fraction of the market rental cost. It’s an offer Freya simply can’t refuse.

It's the end of the world...Or at least it was. The apocalypse has come and gone in all its horror and glory. After being released from years of torture underground, Khadim emerges and embarks upon this wasted planet unaware of his fate. He is meant for something much greater than himself. He doesn't know it yet, but he is destined to bring balance. In other words, some guy is going to kick a lot of ass and save everyone...Whether he wants to or not.

Action, quirky characters, solid narration
Revisado: 05-12-19
The action starts right away in this story and continued non stop until the end. There are so many interesting characters including Khadim. Khadim is s bit of an anti hero and at times its hard to root for him. Actually at times its hard to figure out who to empathize with but I guess thats what the book is about...no one is a 100% good or bad
Except the demons...they're bad. Taylor created an interesting universe and through out the book he hints at the order and mythology of this world but I want to more.At times the backstory of the characters was more interesting than the current action. I hope we get to learn more about Khadim's orgin story in the next book.
Overall I enjoyed Constant Gray.

There's no place like home.... Kim and Julian Taylor are in the market for their first home, and a visit to the secluded Beacon estate finds them enamored. It's a peculiar home, rather large and in need of some renovations. The price is right, however, and after a tour, they snap the house up without hesitation. The man who sells them the house has one last detail to share before they sign on the dotted line. The previous owners of the home disappeared under mysterious circumstances nearly eight years ago and have recently been declared dead in absentia.

Google the House before you buy it!
Revisado: 03-27-19
As usual, the characters in this Haunted House story were a couple of idiots making one bad decision after another. There was a bit of a twist at the end but reason for the haunting was presented in an anti-climatic manner. I wish the author spent more time on plot development and less time on creating a suspenseful atmosphere

Buy the complete series not 1 book at a time
Revisado: 03-22-19
I'm enjoyed the story but it's not a whole book it's part of a series that you can purchase for one credit as opposed to buying each book one credit at a time. I feel like I wasted a credit. Also In Absentia does not read like a novel in a series
but really it's just the first few chapters of a novel. I really don't like the way Audible serialized this novel and pretends that it is really a whole novel in a series just to get you to spend your credits.

Historia
Aster lives in the low-deck slums of the HSS Matilda, a space vessel organized much like the antebellum South. For generations the Matilda has ferried the last of humanity to a mythical Promised Land. On its way the ship's leaders have imposed harsh moral restrictions on dark-skinned sharecroppers like Aster, whom they consider to be less than human.

Interesting concept told from a fresh perspective
Revisado: 12-03-18
I found this take on dystopia to be very interesting. Like Battlestar Galactica without the hope. The author does a good job of making the reader/listener feel the claustrophobia and desperation of the characters. In regards to the plot I found myself more interested in the backstory instead of the current events.
It did take awhile for me to listen to the whole book and that's because the main characters suffered so much that I had to stop listening at times. A few characters , especially the antagonists are not very well developed and a couple of characters just pop up out of nowhere to advance the plot. Also the main character Aster is hard to like but when you see what they have to cope with you end up sympathizing with them.

Historia
Kevin Taylor is an Internet-famous handyman on a mission: Find a house and renovate it in 30 days. By flipping a derelict house in a month's time and chronicling the entire thing on video for his online subscribers, he seeks to become a star. The problems that plague this property will require more than elbow grease to fix, however. Shadows throughout the home are distorted, and an enigmatic trespasser keeps showing up in his footage. Worse still are the hideous voices that issue from otherwise empty rooms in the dead of night.

Historia
From electrifying horror author Nick Cutter comes a haunting new novel, reminiscent of Cormac McCarthy's Blood Meridian and Stephen King's It, in which a trio of mismatched mercenaries is hired by a young woman for a deceptively simple task: check in on her nephew, who may have been taken against his will to a remote New Mexico backwoods settlement called Little Heaven. Shortly after they arrive, things begin to turn ominous.

Epic Novel
Revisado: 10-26-17
This novel is really three separate stories that the author deftly weaves together. My favorite part is the story of how the three main characters meet. The author does in in depth character study of each.
The narration was awesome.
cons- the author goes overboard with some if the gory details, Just a bit too flowery in his descriptive prose at times. Another distraction was the way the main character Micah spoke. For some reason he never used contractions, so he sounded very stilted and robotic. The author never explained the reason either. Weird bit not the weirdest part of the story.
