I thought the combination of Joanne Froggatt and "Audible Thriller of 2017" would be a winning one. I was wrong. For me it was a sequence of ever increasing unbelievable events. Thriller lovers, save your credit

Tony and Carol are called upon to investigate - but this may be the toughest case they've ever had to face. Meanwhile, Detective Sergeant Paula McIntyre and her partner Elinor must deal with a cruel cyber-blackmailer targeting their teenage ward, Torin.

Lovely cozy mystery
Revisado: 02-11-18
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes - nothing too deep or complicated but thoroughly enjoyable
What did you like best about this story?
A good story, good characters and a great narrator . I felt like I was part of the village and knew the characters personally.
What about Caroline Lennon’s performance did you like?
Irish accents are so lovely to listen to when they are well done and so excruciating when they are not. This was so well done, it added to my enjoyment of the story.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
It would have been easy to if I'd had time
Any additional comments?
I loved it - looking forward to more of the series. It's not the most challenging mystery I've ever read, but I don;t think it's intended to be. Sometimes, a nice cozy mystery is exactly what you want to listen to

Really enjoyed this
Revisado: 08-18-13
I bought this primarily because I enjoyed the Harry Potter series so much - not just the storyline, but also the writing. Obviously by the time I made my purchase the secret of the author was out ! I never read Casual Vacancy but I do enjoy mysteries and I was curious to find out how the writing would translate in to a more mature theme. It did! I echo many others in hoping we hear more from Comoran Strike - if there were more titles available in the series I would download them today.
Robert Glenister's performance, together with a well constructed story made this a very enjoyable listen. It's been a while since a recording hooked me like this one.

Historia
Grace Stanton’s life as a rising media star and beloved lifestyle blogger takes a surprising turn when she catches her husband cheating and torpedoes his pricey sports car straight into the family swimming pool. Grace suddenly finds herself locked out of her palatial home, checking account, and even the blog she has worked so hard to develop in her signature style. Moving in with her widowed mother, who owns and lives above a rundown beach bar called The Sandbox, is less than ideal.

Revisado: 07-12-13
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I would recommend this to anyone looking for a good summer beach read. While the storyline is predictable, it's predicable in a good way and what makes it enjoyable is MKA's writing. I love her books about the south and this one doesn't disappoint.
Have you listened to any of Kathleen McInerney’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I haven't, but I will be looking for more of her work. Her narration made the listening very easy - she did a wonderful job!
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
While it would have been easy to do this, I generally listen to books while driving so the time I listen depends on the length of the drive.

Historia
There are some odd things about Nate’s new apartment. Of course, he has other things on his mind. He hates his job. He has no money in the bank. No girlfriend. No plans for the future. So while his new home isn’t perfect, it’s livable. The rent is low, the property managers are friendly, and the odd little mysteries don’t nag at him too much. At least, not until he meets Mandy, his neighbor across the hall, and notices something unusual about her apartment. And Xela’s apartment. And Tim’s. And Veek’s.

Revisado: 05-25-13
Where does 14 rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
14 is one of the best audio books I own. I very much enjoyed the story and the narration by Ray Porter really enhanced it.
What did you like best about this story?
The development of the characters and the time spent on setting the scene. It pulled me in gradually and I had no idea how long I had been listening to it. Of course, the narrator was an essential part of making the characters come to life
Have you listened to any of Ray Porter’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
This is the first time I've heard Ray Porter, but I will be looking for other performances for sure
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Absolutely!
Any additional comments?
1 star removed for the" convenience" factor by which I mean the convenience of having a character with the specific knowledge needed to solve the problems and challenges the group faced, especially the character of Tim. But then, if you allow for the fact that the building was being watched, then I suppose you can allow for the fact that Tim would exist.
Vague, i know but I dislike reviews that give away the plot. Listen and judge for yourself!

Wonderful!
Revisado: 03-25-13
If you could sum up Speaks the Nightbird in three words, what would they be?
Epic, historical, spellbinding
Who was your favorite character and why?
Matthew Corbett because of his quiet stubbornness
What does Edoardo Ballerini bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Eduardo's performance lifted the book to a whole new level. All the different voices for the different characters and his masterful storytelling made me "see" Fount Royal and its townspeople in a way I would not have if I had read the book because I have a tendency to skim through long descriptions.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes! Despite the length of the book, I was reluctant for it to end
Any additional comments?
I bought this on the recommendation of Audible's listeners like you feature. There is nothing I like better than finding a new ( to me ) author, unless it is a new author with a series of books. Listening to the second in the series right now

Disappointed
Revisado: 02-18-13
I really enjoyed "Nightfall", the first book in this series and started the second recording soon after the first finished which may have been part of the reason I didn't enjoy this as much.
I much preferred the narrator of the first book in the series "Midnight". Actually, I much preferred the first book - then the story seemed fresh and I was willing to overlook some minor irritations with the writing. This time, the story seemed stale and recycled and the minor irritations became more major. The phrases "Nightingale shrugged" and "Nightingale lit a cigarette" were used so frequently that if they were removed from the text, I'm, sure the book would be pages shorter. A disappointing follow up .

Loved it!
Revisado: 02-02-13
Sometimes you take a chance and find a hidden gem, sometimes not so much. I really lucked out this time! I had no idea what to expect - bought the title based off the reviews and because (I think) it was in a sale over Christmas and it sounded like something I would enjoy. I did, very much. The story was gripping, enough that it over rode some of my minor annoyances with the writing, particularly the continual reference to Jack's smoking - not sure why there was such an emphasis on that because it really didn't add anything to the plot. There were other parts where I felt some editing would have helped but since I just finished this and about to start the second book in the series within the next 24 hours, obviously not a major hindrance.
