I read this book years ago, but the audiobook is a completely different experience. I laughed out loud.

I was interested in this book because I watched Leah Remini's show about Scientology. I was worried the book would be redundant since I had already seen the show. Instead, there was a lot of new information and she expanded upon her story which is only briefly mentioned in the show. The story dragged about ¾ through, when she started to talk about Hollywood drama. Otherwise, great listen and I definitely recommend.

Loved the narrators, but wanted more from the plot

It was a thrill to hear Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny as Scully and Mulder in an audiobook format. The plot had some inconsistencies (but then again, didn't the show?). Honestly, I would have greatly preferred that they read some classic X Files fanfiction instead of this story. I barely finished listening; it lost my interest despite the amazing narration.

I appreciate the way the writer presented the story. She only reveals small parts of Eleanor's past at a time. It made me reevaluate how we treat those who don't try to fit in socially. The plot was dark.

I have a background in science so I loved learning about plagues throughout history. It was informative and the writer has good insights. I laughed out loud while listening. Definitely recommend.

Good companion to Leah Remini's book and show

I enjoyed this book. The narrative dragged on at times, but overall I couldn't believe what these children -including the narrator - had to endure. I recommend it, especially if you are enjoying Leah Remini's show and have read her book (not to overshadow Mrs. Hill's book)

I love David Sedaris but recommend other books, like Me Talk Pretty One Day or Let's Explore Diabetes With Owls. As usual, his narration is perfect and has me laughing out loud. I recommend his audiobooks over text any day.

The story didn't "grab me"

The narration was great, but I couldn't get into the story. I may give it another listen when I can devote my concentration to it.

Had to listen once I saw the premiere of the show

Once I watched the first episode of The Handmaid's Tale on Hulu, I had to find out how the story progressed. I very much enjoyed this.

I couldn't get past the extraneous noise

This book looked like it would be funny and enjoyable. I simply couldn't concentrate on it enough to tell. I was easily sidetracked by the narrator because the recording wasn't the best - one can hear breathing and mouth noises. Maybe try re-recording it or cleaning up the audio?
