Historia
My name is Kazimir Wolfe. People call me "Kaz", except they don’t. I never use my real name; it’s too dangerous, for me and for anyone I meet. I’m on the run from the law, who think I killed my aunt, and from whoever did kill her, because they want to finish the job. So, I move around a lot, working construction or whatever job I can find. It’s a lonely life. I don’t let anyone get close...people who get close to me end up dead. Why? I’m a wizard. The world’s only wizard, as far as I know.

Surprisingly Good!
Revisado: 04-15-25
Even though the average ratings were 4.6, I was a little skeptical about what the humor in the narrative would add to the overall story. I was pleasantly surprised and found myself literally laughing out loud at many of the points where the protagonist was engaging with the other characters. Would recommend highly for anyone who enjoys a good mix of fantasy and reality!

Historia
When the Department of Energy puts an underground iron mine on its short list of potential sites for storage of nuclear waste, a barrage of protest erupts in Tamarack County, Minnesota, and Cork is hired as a security consultant. Deep in the mine during his first day on the job, Cork stumbles across a secret room that contains the remains of six murder victims. Five appear to be nearly half a century old - connected to what the media once dubbed "The Vanishings", a series of unsolved disappearances in the summer of 1964, when Cork's father was sheriff in Tamarack County.

Like a longtime friend....
Revisado: 02-16-25
This is (I think) the 10th book of the series that I have listened to and I grow more fond of Cork O'Connor after each one. His character has depth and caring that draws you in...even if you don't agree with him 100% of the time.
One would think that the series would have grown stale and predictable by now, yet so far each story has provided a twist and storyline that has kept me listening and looking forward to listening to the next.

Raised as an orphan by her aunt, Chariline has only been told a few pieces of her parents’ tragic love story. Her beautiful dark skin is proof that her father was Cushite, but she knows nothing else. While visiting her grandfather before his retirement as the Roman official in the queen’s court, Chariline overhears that her father is still alive, and discovering his identity becomes her obsession. Both her grandfather and the queen have reasons for keeping this secret, however, and forbid her quest. So Chariline sneaks on the ship of a merchant trusted by friends.

Great Story....Cringy Narration
Revisado: 08-16-24
I just could not bring myself to finish listening to this one regardless of the great story line. The narrator's portrayal of the women characters hurt my ears. And in truth, made the parts of the story that should have been inspiring, simply mundane. In my opinion, this book should be re-recorded if the author wishes to have people listen. In the 7+ years that I have listened to audio books, thus is only the 2nd book that I could not get through because of the narration.

Adding 'Realness' to Known Bible Figures...
Revisado: 08-01-24
This is the 2nd Tessa Afshar book that I have listened to. Both books added very real depth to those characters that I have read or heard about in the Bible as well as providing accurate societal context to those characters. I enjoyed these books much more than I would have expected.

God's Weaving of Music...
Revisado: 07-11-24
This is the 3rd book I've listened to of the series... and it is my favorite thus far! I was amazed at the accuracy of the musical references and hiw the author used the music throughout to portray God's handiwork in the character's lives...a beautiful listen!

Not Predictable...
Revisado: 02-04-24
After reading/ listening to 100s of vampire/sci-fi books over the years, one comes to expect certain outcomes. This series did not take the typical twists and turns. I found it very difficult to stop listening....found the series to be one of the better audio books I've listened to.

Another surprisingly awesome story! Upon the start of the story, I had my doubts as to whether it would be a good listen... boy, was I wrong! The weaving of real history along with the story telling was excellent! The ending hit my heart with a sledge hammer, yet left me KNOWING that ultimately God loves us beyond measure!
