Historia
Frankie Elkin is an average middle-aged woman, a recovering alcoholic with more regrets than belongings. But she spends her life doing what no one else will - searching for missing people the world has stopped looking for. When the police have given up, when the public no longer remembers, when the media has never paid attention, Frankie starts looking. A new case brings her to Mattapan, a Boston neighborhood with a rough reputation. She is searching for Angelique Badeau, a Haitian teenager who vanished from her high school months earlier.

Great listen

I wasn’t prepared to like Frankie as much as I did. However, In true Lisa Gardner form, the character is developed just enough to leave you wanting more. Can’t wait to hear more about this new character in future books!

Historia
Many biographies of people with schizophrenia seem to dwell primarily on the feeling of hopelessness, and they keep expectations for the sufferer's future low. With this autobiography, Mr. Jiang attempts to turn the tables on this litany of sorrow. He shows himself as a result of the miracles that modern medicine can produce. He went from being a basket case to a respected, technologically-savvy medical librarian working at a world-renowned research institution.

Don’t waste your credits-buy the hard copy
Revisado: 10-15-19
I would have loved to be able to listen to this and wish i had read the other reviews before using a credit on this. I’m sure the story is wonderful but the narrator makes it impossible to listen to for any length of time. It’s almost like they never edited this. He is constantly coughing and burping and the repetition makes it impossible to listen to. Very very disappointed.

Historia
Why we think it’s a great listen: A performance so poignant, we gave Bronson Pinchot (yes, Balki from Perfect Strangers) our inaugural Narrator of the Year award.... In the monsoon season of 1968-69 at a fire support base called Matterhorn, located in the remote mountains of Vietnam, a young and ambitious Marine lieutenant wants to command a company to further his civilian political ambitions. But two people stand in his way.

Absolute Masterpiece
Revisado: 01-17-18
The writing in Matterhorn has the power of a mighty river yet all the subtlety of a stream. It’s characters change and evolve as the novel progresses and it’s hard not to see a piece of yourself in all of them. I’ve read Matterhorn a few times now and pick up something different each time. This book is more than a commentary on the Vietnam war, though that setting provides a moving backdrop. It is a great piece of literature, and a great listen.
