Historia
A fighter, rogue, and ladies man, Alan Lewrie has done the unthinkable and gotten himself hitched--to a woman and a ship! The woman is the lovely Caroline Chiswick. The ship is the gun ketch, Alacrity, bound for the Bahamas and a bloody game of cat and mouse with the pirates who ply the lunatic winds there. But while war comes naturally to the young husband, politics doesn't.

Mr. Butcher does it again!
Revisado: 06-07-13
Would you consider the audio edition of Turn Coat to be better than the print version?
No! I love both versions. I can't read it while driving, so...
What did you like best about this story?
The realistic (in a fantasy, of course) setting and a logical view of the supernatural. Jim Butcher has a way of making this genre totally accessible, and a riot at the same time.
What does James Marster bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
He really gets Harry Dresden across. When I read the book, James Marsters' voice IS Harry's voice in my head! His depiction of Harry and the people who share his world is completely believable (and hilarious- check out his accent for Major General Toot-Toot Minimus!! And Bob? You will laugh sooo hard....)
Any additional comments?
Just relax and let Harry take you someplace you couldn't go on your own...

Historia
This is the way the world ends: with a nanosecond of computer error in a Defense Department laboratory and a million casual contacts that form the links in a chain letter of death. And here is the bleak new world of the day after: a world stripped of its institutions and emptied of 99 percent of its people. A world in which a handful of panicky survivors choose sides - or are chosen.

This will take you for a ride...
Revisado: 06-07-13
What did you love best about The Stand?
The story was very relavent, what with all the biological scares we see every day. And weaponized diseases? Ugghh! (Shivers) Mr. King's descriptions of a post-apocalyptic U.S. and the people struggling to survive in it was amazing! (Stephen King. 'Nuff said.)
Which scene was your favorite?
Ummm... Ahh... too many to list.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes and no.. The individual characters and stories are great, but this is so long that you can't hear it all in one sitting.

Engrossing and educational.
Revisado: 06-07-13
Where does Shogun rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Hmm... I like all kinds of stories, all kinds of genres... This rates about #2.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Lord Toranaga. Getting to know this (fictional) Daimyo and following his plots within plots within plots was fascinating. Mr. Clavell's depiction of a medieval Japanese warlord is dead on, IMHO.
Which scene was your favorite?
When Blackthorne was made Samurai and Hatamoto.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
No... Just a longing to have been able to see medieval Japan at the beginning of the Tokugawa Shogunate (This book is based around that time.)
Any additional comments?
LOOOOONG but great story. If you've got the time I suggest you check this one out.

Historia
More than 3,000 years have passed since the first events recorded in Dune. Only one link survives with those tumultuous times: the grotesque figure of Leto Atreides, son of the prophet Paul Muad'Dib, and now the virtually immortal God Emperor of Dune. He alone understands the future, and he knows with a terrible certainty that the evolution of his race is at an end unless he can breed new qualities into his species.

If you could sum up God Emperor of Dune in three words, what would they be?
You can't sum this up in three words!
Who was your favorite character and why?
Duncan Idaho. He is the epitome of the word 'Maverick'.
Any additional comments?
Any of the Frank Herbert-written Dune Chronicles are milestones of Sci-Fi and Fantasy writing. This is only the fourth of his six Dune books and it's an excellent read.

If you could sum up A Short History of Nearly Everything in three words, what would they be?
A very good, well researched book. And the title pretty well sums it up. I got the abridged version a few years ago, and saw this...AWESOME! UN-abridged! If you have a lot of driving to do, this book will keep you interested.
