Vivid imagery & great characters!
Revisado: 10-17-19
I love his first book. I think this one might be better! The characters are vivid, the scenes are painted so well with words that it feels like I'm there. Superb storytelling in every way. the narrator is excellent, and I feel like she adds to the experience of the story. You will be happy you got this book. It's the perfect thing to curl up and listen to on a rainy day

Unable to resist her own curiosity, Grace opens the suitcase, where she discovers a dozen photographs - each of a different woman. The narrator was very expressive with her voice. Each character was alive and was voiced uniquely. I loved the plot. Excellent in every way.

Historia
September 1888. A 29-year-old Arthur Conan Doyle practices medicine by day and writes at night. His first Sherlock Holmes story has only netted him 25 pounds. Embittered by the experience, he vows never to write another "crime story". Then a messenger arrives with a mysterious summons from former Prime Minister William Gladstone, asking him to come to London immediately. Once there, he is offered one month's employment to assist the Metropolitan Police as a "consultant" in their hunt for the serial killer soon to be known as Jack the Ripper.

I don't typically read fiction based in this time frame, but it was recommended by a friend. I'm so glad I listened! The narrator is fantastic and brought the characters to life. The plot was well paced and delicious! You'll be happy you took the time to enjoy this gem.

Historia
Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars. Now, he's sure he'll be the first person to die there. After a dust storm nearly kills him and forces his crew to evacuate while thinking him dead, Mark finds himself stranded and completely alone with no way to even signal Earth that he's alive - and even if he could get word out, his supplies would be gone long before a rescue could arrive. Chances are, though, he won't have time to starve to death. The damaged machinery, unforgiving environment, or plainold "human error" are much more likely to kill him first.

Fantastic Story. Superb reading performance!
Revisado: 10-02-18
the perfect book for a person who loves an adventure and is a closet science nerd. no science understanding required. the text never takes itself too seriously but manages to stay clever and even made me laugh a few times. the preformer/reader was superb! best audiobook reader I've ever listened to. thoroughly enjoyable "cover" to "cover".

Historia
Gallery of Death is a story collection which begins with "Coyote", where a Cherokee Plainclothes Detective has 12 hours to rescue a kidnapped woman and keep his spiritual nemesis, Coyote, at bay. In "Homeward Bound", two soldiers attempt to evade the enemy and a pending air strike to make their way to safety, and back home. "Catrina" is a personal essay describing an actual death scene investigation Dr. Harper performed, and his struggle to overcome the sterility of clinical terminology to accurately convey his findings.

It has everything I love about books
Revisado: 04-28-18
The characters were vivid and engaging. The plots were well-paced. A thoroughly enjoyable read!
My favorite thing about these short stories is how quickly the characters and scenes came to life in the cinema of my mind. Dr. Harper did an amazing job. I'm looking forward to his next book!
The reader did a fantastic job. Using his voice, pacing, and a hint of accent made It feel almost like an ensemble theater piece. Well done.
