can't stand the music
Revisado: 03-15-22
the music might be interesting to play with if it's very very much in the background, but I couldn't stand having the distraction being added to the storytelling, so much so that I bought a different version of the book to get away from it. interesting idea, but 100% not for me.

Average

I couldn't get over the voicing of the main character sounding like Zapp Brannigan, and that his actions melded the two together such so that it made the rest of the story into an infuriating cringe comedy.
I listened to the entire audiobook to see if the story and character development got any better, but it seems like this was written for the early middle-school through high-school ages. Interesting plot, but the story and characters are very predictable and rigid. The story itself has potential, but this was aimed at a much younger audience and I just did not read far enough into the reviews to see that prior to purchasing.

great story, has potential
Revisado: 04-26-19
I love the idea behind the book, and the delivery was on point, for the character styles.
However, the writing style, content, and delivery all lean on a weird point between being written to entice adolescents into the series, or pulling in those interested in a serious story written in an more world weary point of view.
-seems like this was written for pre/teens but angled towards adults-
most of the antagonism seemed to have a lack of imagination and solidity behind it; the protagonist solution always seemed to be just as malleable, but lackluster. same with the interpersonal relationships, very vanilla and spiceless.
overall, not a bad story, but did not involve the imagination and intrigue to keep me listening for long periods of time, and at points, I felt I was only listening just to get through the book and move on to another.

First audio book series!

Thoroughly enjoyed this series! First audio series I've listened to and I absolutely love it! Was uncomfortable at first with the thought of someone reading to me, but quickly fell in love with the format. Excellent narrators!
