Historia
Rockefeller was the quintessential industrialist. He created an industry out of nascent oil and gas start-ups during a time when none existed. His strategies and tactics may not have been approved by all, but he was certain he was doing God’s work. We live in a world today that is based on the actions of John D. Rockefeller. Everything we do and how we live are the result of oil and its power. This inherent structure is based on what one man did when the oil industry was just starting off.

Enjoyable and interesting
Revisado: 09-25-19
This is an excellent treatment of the subject. J. R. MacGregor spends maybe a little more time psychoanalyzing JD and his family than providing historical narrative, but overall the story is well done, clearly well researched, and well written. To me, the weakest part of the book was J. R. MacGregor attempt to discuss the antitrust concepts in play. He seemed a bit confused at times as to what conduct was competition at work and what, under modern standards would be considered anticompetitive. At times he notes the irony that some of SO's biggest critics engaged in the same tactics, but never squares the circle so to speak on what is okay and what is not.. But overall I found this to be a good listen and recommend it to anyone who is interested in the subject matter.

Great, Long, Winding
Revisado: 09-25-19
The J. P. Morgan: The Life and Deals of America's Banker takes some force of will to make it through. There are times when J. R. MacGregor can take an anecdote and turn it into 3-5 chapter of unnecessary detail. That being said, he dutifully retells the entire history of Morgan and it is a fascinating listen of both business and politics throughout modern american history and banking.

Historia
The Ford name is everywhere, even in places where you don’t see it. It is ingrained in the American way of life. From the way we make our food to the way we think about cars, it all came from the mind of this Irishman from Michigan. Henry Ford was a titan’s titan. In monetary terms, he was richer than the richest man alive today. Yet, he was the gentlest of souls and had the brightest of minds. This book covers his life from when his family immigrated to Michigan until his last breath.

Good financial
Revisado: 09-25-19
There is a decent amount of good principals in this book that many businesses today would be better off by applying to Henry Ford business models, but there are also a number of places where Mr. Ford alludes to a fairy-tale utopian, socialistic society as part of an answer to so-called inequalities, but J.R. MacGregor also points out that to the man who works hard and with proper intent, reward is to be expected and oftentimes inevitable. He has a few ideas I totally disagree with, but a wise individual can filter out the "chaff". There are also some amusing sections that tediously list production numbers and figures that some may find boring, but I found amusing. a somewhat long listen , but anyone who will work as a manager under me will now need to listen portions of this book.

Historia
Cornelius Vanderbilt I had no illusions about his life. He didn’t start out with grand plans and ungodly greed. He merely stepped in this world one foot at a time, one boat at a time, one market at a time - one day at a time. He worked 16 hours a day, seven days a week. He worked hard and played hard. When all was said and done, though, he was a simple man who pushed the world of transportation to be all it could be - to be what it is today. Vanderbilt was a man of steel, and we can learn incredible things from him.

Fun listen
Revisado: 09-25-19
This book jumped around quite a bit, and had so many characters I had trouble keeping each generation straight at times, but all in all. It was alot of historic information to fit into one story, however it listen like a novel and led me to listen other books describing this time period. From other sources I have listen , this hit everything I was interested in, and seemed accurate of other accounts.

Historia
Andrew Carnegie amassed wealth that inspired generations of entrepreneurs and industrialists. Starting with nothing in Scotland, he gradually built so much wealth that those at the top of the current Forbes list would still not be able to match him. This audiobook presents the life of one of the gentlest and kindest men in history and the way he made his money. His fortune was ultimately almost three times more than the richest men on the planet today.

Good biography
Revisado: 09-25-19
This was a good biography of Andrew Carnegie but I would've liked to have known more about his immediate family, his wife and daughter and great-grandchildren. I also wish they had told what the difference was between iron and steel since that was a huge part of the story.
