Historia
Coming home to Dogwood Cove after eighteen years away is bittersweet. But running into Ethan Monroe has me wondering why I put it off for so long. He isn’t the boy I played hide and seek with as a child anymore. Now he’s the seriously hot, plaid wearing, scruff bearing, mayor of this small town. A man who can sweep me off my feet, and make me feel safe, all at the same time.

Sweet and Spicy small town romance!
Revisado: 11-15-23
This title kicks off a completed series of small town love stories set in a charming coastal Canadian town! iOver a decade has past since Summer left Dogwood Cove. After years of a somewhat nomadic lifestyle, she has returned after inheriting a run-down oceanside resort, the only link to her recently departed father. Ready to help her fit into her old home is Ethan, the charmingly handsome mayor, and older brother of Summer’s childhood best friend. While Summer and Ethan both begin falling fast, her connection to the town isn’t a sure thing, and he is already terrified to see her leave again.
I read this book over a year ago and fell in love with Dogwood Cove. Now this title is available on audio, and it was great returning to the first book in the series in this dual narration format! This book is sweet, sexy, funny, and charming, and a must read for any small town romance lover.

Amish paranormal romance
Revisado: 11-15-22
As an immortal living with his order hidden among the Amish, Adam knows that the call of his true mate must be met swiftly. He must seek her out and bring her home to complete the mating bond, or risk losing his humanity for good. But Annalise isn’t anything like Adam was expecting for his chosen mate, and she is not going to easily give up her modern life and freedoms, even for the dazzling male that enters her workplace one evening.
Annalise made this book for me. She is honest, angry, assertive, and genuine about her feelings and situation throughout this book. It’s a longer story and audiobook, but it helped give background to the characters and the lore of the immortal order that Adam belongs to. What I couldn’t get over in this book was Adam’s outdated if unintentional misogyny and unwavering position even when Annalise stated her case. There is also a lot of religious undertones, and that’s just not my cup of tea. But it had some good spice and and interesting plot I really didn’t know what the outcome would look like until we got there!

Funny, mysterious, a great listen!
Revisado: 10-13-22
The island of Paradiso is filled with influencers, insta celebrities, and sponsored content. When a body of a staff member is discovered inopportunely the week of an influencer wedding, non-binary Detective Sam is called in to crack the case. Surrounded by wealth, privilege, and an absence of tact, Sam doesn’t shy away from making allies where they can, and inserting themselves into life at Paradiso to solve this mystery.
After reading the description I was immediately intrigued! I love a cozy murder mystery, but add in a queer romance and non-binary main character? This was just hands down enjoyable! With humor reminiscent of Schitt’s Creek, the mystery kept me guessing the entire way through, and I was still surprised by the ending! The audiobook also includes some tasteful sound effects and wonderful narration!
Thank you to the author, Elle Kleos, for a gifted copy of the audiobook for review purposes!

Historia
Jack and I, we did everything backward. The day he lured me into his office - which was also the first day we met - he proposed. You'd think a guy who looked like him - a bit cold maybe, but still striking and very unattainable - would only ask the love of his life to marry him, right? You'd think he must be madly in love.

Slow burn marriage of convenience
Revisado: 10-13-22
Part marriage of convenience, part fake dating, Jack and Rose got married without really knowing each other, each with their own reasons. Rose now has the chance to open up the coffee shop of her dreams, and Jack has the perfect woman on his arm to bolster his career. But life in close quarters can often open us up to giving more of ourselves than we plan!
This was a slow-burn, grumpy-sunshine love story told in dual pov. It was a slow read for me, and while I really enjoyed the storyline it took me a while to buy into the love story, or root for these two working out. Probably because the narration was just ok. This also featured a trope I don’t read a ton of but really loved: one of the MCs taking care of the other when they are sick!

Historia
Chemist Elizabeth Zott is not your average woman. In fact, Elizabeth Zott would be the first to point out that there is no such thing as an average woman. But it’s the early 1960s and her all-male team at Hastings Research Institute takes a very unscientific view of equality. Except for one: Calvin Evans; the lonely, brilliant, Nobel–prize nominated grudge-holder who falls in love with—of all things—her mind. True chemistry results.

Beautiful and powerful
Revisado: 10-13-22
Elizabeth Zott is a chemist. She is often called a secretary, a mother, a tv host - but she is a chemist. It is the early 1960s and despite her abilities, experience, or intelligence, she is often overlooked and critiqued, particularly by her colleagues at the Hastings Research Institute. Only Calvin Evans, the brilliant and celebrated chemist who also works at Hastings, takes Elizabeth seriously. When Elizabeth finds herself a single mother and suddenly the host of an afternoon cooking program, she uses chemistry to explain food, and becomes a staple in homes across the country.
Wow. This is one of those books I wanted to re-read as soon as it ended. I found it both infuriating and lovely, heartbreaking and warm. Packed with dynamic characters who brought depth to the story from start to finish, I truly loved each minute of this book. In the afterword, author Bonnie Garmus speaks to the vast depression of women in this generation - throttled by societal expectation and restricted in all aspects of their lives. This is my grandmother’s generation, and I wish I could ask them now how they navigated in a world that doubted their intellect. It was a gut-wrenching reminder that ignorance and prejudice have haunted our lives for too long, yet a beautiful story of devotion, self-reliance, and forgiveness.

A wonderful end to a beautiful trilogy. The story was exciting with new characters, while also diving deeper into our favorites from previous books. I only wish it could have gone on even longer!
