Full blown Christian sermon

FYI - this should 100% be categorized as Christian/religion, not historical. By the time I stopped listening it had become a full blown sermon about the love of Jesus Christ etc etc - like, every sentence was like this. I tried to stick with it for the story, but the sermon slowly overtook the story until it was all sermon. I couldn’t take it anymore - not for me. If you like that type of book then you’ll love this, and the narrator was good, but there should have been some kind of indication it would be like that before I spent $ on it.

A bad romance novel

This was a bad romance. Cringy. I couldn’t listen to anymore. Nothing to complain about with the performance but overall a wasted credit.

Phenomenal

I rarely write reviews, but this book deserves one. I am blown away by how talented this author is. I flew through the book in one day - couldn’t stop listening. Her narration was captivating and soulful and I don’t think anyone else could have done a better job. I loved the poetic cadence of her writing. There is so much that I admire here. Her beautiful writing, yes - everything about it, but also her resilience, her honesty, and the way that her words made me reflect on my own life. Just, wow. I loved it.

A surprise stunner

I stumbled upon this book and bought it on a bit of a whim, and then started listening and quickly realized that I had made a very, very good decision. It was amazing! I finished it in one day - very rare for me. I was so pulled in by his fascinating stories, his soothing voice, his superb writing, and, most of all, his thoughts on wonder. It was so interesting and convincing. I want to listen to some parts again, to let those ideas really settle into my brain. I am left really contemplating the connection between a lack of wonder in life, and spending my days feeling weighed down by my responsibilities, stressors, even, in a way, ambitions. His idea of, instead, finding a way to stay awed by all the “magic” that surrounds us, all of us, every day, and letting that wonder fill you up as a means to become more resilient to the constant weight of stress and anxiety and disappointment - I love that idea. It makes sense to me. It feels attainable. After all, how can I stay disappointed about anything when every night I can look up at the stars and be surrounded by infinite, beautiful mystery? Where there is mystery, there is hope. A+ all around.

That was incredible. Audible requires that I write 12 more words to be able to submit this, but honestly, very uncharacteristically, I am a bit speechless. Incredible story, incredible characters, incredible performance, incredible writing. Everything.
