Fantastic Sequel
Revisado: 03-27-21
A great sequel! Jim is the most badass 12 (Not quite..?) year old I've ever seen. I am curious how time will play out in this series as Jim has some 200 of these demons to fight and he's killed maybe...6 at this point.. Now I anxiously await the next book....

Great start to a new series!!
Revisado: 03-26-21
My first book by Michael Head. Plot was really really good, I was drawn in right away and there were thankfully no weird convoluted side plots going on to muddy the story. Cultivating stories often can involve a lot of info-dumping to explain the cultivation mechanics of the "world", however this book wasn't like that! The book cleverly wove explanations in with plot so you understood what and how things were being done the entire time. Excited to read the 2nd book in the series

Chapters not accurate
Revisado: 03-06-21
A slow burn book, however, I enjoyed the story. There were points it got a little muddled. There are many characters to keep track of, many of which play such minor roles. It was a bit tedious to follow at certain times..
The book overall was a 3.5, but this version is only a 3 due to how messed up the chapter markers were for the audio. It was so hard to keep track of where I was (I like to listen to books before bed and such). The chapters do not line up with what is marked on Audible and it got confusing several times.

Historia
In the summer of 2006, Emma Price watched helplessly as her six-year-old son's red coat was fished out of the River Ouse. It was the tragic story of the year - a little boy, Aiden, wandered away from school during a terrible flood, fell into the river, and drowned. His body was never recovered. Ten years later Emma has finally rediscovered the joy in life...until Aiden returns.

Pretty Good
Revisado: 12-08-20
3.5 rounded up
Please do not force people who have suffered trauma to conform and obey your wishes. People heal at their own rates. I cringed every time Emma became demanding of Aiden or screamed at him. It PAINED me to listen to those chapters. Such an inappropriate response to a trauma survivor.
I figured out most of this mystery about halfway through....but the final twist got me! ;)
I'd recommend giving this book a go if you're into thrillers. The chapters are relatively short and it keeps a nice pace throughout the book. I found myself having a hard time putting it down, and kept saying "just one more" at bedtime.

Anna Fox lives alone - a recluse in her New York City home, unable to venture outside. She spends her day drinking wine (maybe too much), watching old movies, recalling happier times...and spying on her neighbors. Then the Russells move into the house across the way: a father, mother, their teenaged son. The perfect family. But when Anna, gazing out her window one night, sees something she shouldn't, her world begins to crumble. And its shocking secrets are laid bare.

Awful
Revisado: 11-11-20
I'm writing this review with 45 minutes left to go. PLEASE do not waste your time. This book is overly wordy for no reason. Things that can be said in a sentence or two take several pages to get to the point. I just invested nearly 14 hours in this book waiting for something to happen....trying desperately to figure out where all these 4/5 star ratings are coming from. I never figured it out. First of all, the narration is terrible. I had to listen to this book on 1.4x speed, it's read that slowly. It was unbearable. Secondly, there were maybe two interesting things that happened the entire book. Most of the book is Anna drinking wine and popping pills. It's redundant and irritating. Lastly, the final "twist" was stupid in my opinion. It was such a let down having invested SO much time for....that. Save yourself the trouble and pass this one over!
Edit: I had to fast-forward through the last few chapters. I needed the misery to end

3 stars. Got this as part of the Audible catalog to listen to for Spooky Season. Not bad, but nothing about it excited me that much. Started off strong but just fell off for me towards the end. I found myself ready for the book to just be done during the last few chapters. It didn't make me want to go see the movie..

Decades after Richard Ramirez left 13 dead and paralyzed the city of Los Angeles, his name is still synonymous with fear, torture, and sadistic murder. Philip Carlo's classic The Night Stalker, based on years of meticulous research and extensive interviews with Ramirez, revealed the killer and his horrifying crimes to be even more chilling than anyone could have imagined. The story of Ramirez is a bizarre and spellbinding descent into the very heart of human evil.

The first half is so good. The second half....REALLY drags. The trial goes on for so long, and I actually enjoy trials!! His interview with Richard wasn't even intriguing by the end...I was so ready for the book to finally be done

All over the place
Revisado: 08-22-20
3.5; It felt like Joe was trying to do way too much in this book. It was sort of just all over the place until the end. His friends have sort of just been forgotten, which is unfortunate. They were good characters.
Also, Sam is the most annoying character to ever exist.

Entertaining book. The author needs a thesaurus tho, he used the word 'azure' so many times it became distracting that he didn't just say blue
