Painful
Revisado: 08-19-24
I got about 1/2 way through and the main character's behavior fails to be believable without much insight why that might be. Had to give up on listening.

Historia
Right from the start, Bigger Thomas had been headed for jail. It could have been for assault or petty larceny; by chance, it was for murder and rape. Native Son tells the story of this young black man caught in a downward spiral after he kills a young white woman in a brief moment of panic. Set in Chicago in the 1930s, Richard Wright's powerful novel is an unsparing reflection on the poverty and feelings of hopelessness experienced by people in inner cities across the country and of what it means to be black in America.

Couldn't finish!
Revisado: 06-08-22
I am a big fan of Sherlock Holmes stories and found myself utterly confused by the lack of Sophistication in the story. The writing is very long winded and repetitive.

Pretty Disappointed
Revisado: 01-30-22
Without giving spoilers, this Sherlock holmes tale veers away from the type of resolution and deduction I would expect from the detective and doctor.

Built To Last, the defining management study of the 90s, showed how great companies triumph over time and how long-term sustained performance can be engineered into the DNA of an enterprise from the very beginning. But what about companies that are not born with great DNA? How can good companies, mediocre companies, even bad companies achieve enduring greatness?

Found Helpful in Gaining Clarity at Work
Revisado: 01-26-22
I had heard a nonprofit podcast episode with Jim Collins as a guest and found myself curious. The book digs into some great concepts that I have personally seem played out in some of my own leadership roles. Some parts can get a bit long winded as the author sometimes gets preachy.
