Rising of the false hero
Revisado: 10-04-24
I’m almost done with book 1 of the 3 book bundle, but I can already tell this is rising of the shield hero but slightly different. I am still hopeful it is different but the longer I listen to it the more and more it is similar to shield hero.

The Bible is made up of 66 books that tell the magnificent story of God's redemptive work in Christ. In this new audio recording of the full Bible, that story comes alive in a fresh way through the voice of award-winning modern hymn writer Kristyn Getty. From Genesis to Revelation, this word-for-word reading of the ESV Bible text is a great way to encounter God's word and the story of salvation.

Loved it
Revisado: 07-20-23
I loved it. The story is fantastic and one of my favorites. However, the reader is not my favorite. He does well until he starts doing different voices. All the males sound the same and the female voices are just cringe. I almost stopped because of the voices alone.

Bunny girls do not live in libraries. This is simply common sense. And yet, that’s exactly where Sakuta finds one in the wild. More bewildering is who the bunny girl is: Mai Sakurajima, a girl one year older than Sakuta, famous at their school for her acting career even though she’s currently on break. To top it all off, it seems like no one else in the library can see Mai at all, no matter what she does or...wears.

Bad performance, excellent story
Revisado: 03-22-23
I absolutely love the story. It is cliche but it is still worth a read. My biggest issue is the performance. He just needs to take a step back away from the mic. He sounds like he is in a tunnel and/or I hear his breathe ever time he speaks.

It’s good but drags
Revisado: 10-04-22
So overall I enjoyed the book. I been in love with the series for a while now and thought every book was great. This one is good but it drags. I found myself zoning out and coming to a few minutes later only to realize nothing happened.
There were other parts thought that I loved. Instead of 24 hours, it could have been around 18 or even a little less.
Travis Baldree did an amazing job! All the different voices makes it easy to know who is talking. This book would be much worse without him

I tried after the first book
Revisado: 09-02-22
I didn’t care for the first book all that much but I wanted to give it another try. It’s just not my style I guess. I was really hoping to see Tanya destroying everything in the battles but it never really happens. As soon as the battle starts, the perspective shifts to the enemies talking about Tanya winning and how scared they were. We never really actually see he do much in battle.
The book is more about the politics around the battles she is in and less about the battles themselves. It made for a long read.
I will say though, it wasn’t all bad. There were parts I found really intresting and engaged me. Like when she got new recruits she had to train. I loved that but after the training mission they kinda just disappear.
Overall I gave the story a 3 but the voice actress did great. It was hard going from the first narrator to this one but once I got use to it I thought she did great. If you enjoyed the first one, you’ll enjoy the second one. But if you were like me and thought the first one lacked something, this is the same

Arthur Leywin knew well the cold terror of war. Yet, in his past life as King Grey, he had never lost a friend, mentor, or loved one; he had none to lose. Now, though, Arthur must accept that even those closest to him must take up arms to defend their homes as the enemy force seeks new methods to strike at the heart of Dicathen. In his quest to stop the approaching army, Arthur must travel to the dwarven kingdom of Darv, gain mastery of the four elements, battle some of the Vritra’s mightiest champions, and overcome a grievous betrayal.

Good but drags
Revisado: 08-20-22
First off the performance of Travis is amazing once again. He makes these books really enjoyable even when the story is lacking.
The story however is lacking here. The first half of the book was really enjoyable and even the flashbacks I’ve enjoyed. But the second half of the book is training, and it not even clever training like the other books. It just drags on for no reason. He seems to get stronger just because and not because he figured anything out.
It’s still and enjoyable read and it has a lot of story progression. I would still recommend it if you’ve enjoyed them so far. It’s just the second half of the book drags

Training
Revisado: 08-12-22
This is a training book. Arthur spends most of the book training and gaining new abilities. Some people will hate it but I enjoyed it. I would have hated the story if he leaves to train then there is a 2 year time skip and he is stronger. We get to see why he is stronger

Historia
I never believed in the whole “light at the end of the tunnel” folly where people, after having a near-death experience, would startle awake in a cold sweat exclaiming, “I saw the light!” But there I was, in this so-called “tunnel” facing a glaring light, when the last thing I remembered was sleeping in my room - the royal bed-chamber, as others called it. Had I died? If so, how? King Grey once benefited from unrivaled strength, wealth, and prestige in a world governed by martial ability but now finds himself reborn in a society dominated by magic.

I don’t understand the hate
Revisado: 06-10-22
I don’t understand the hate. I see so many reviews saying the MC is handed everything and I don’t understand. The MC spends 8 years training and growing just to get above average. He also comes up short and almost dies several times.
The second hate review i see is people complaining about that he is mentally 30ish and the first love intrest is only 6-7. It is stated several times that he has no intrest because she looks so young, Even though he is only 4-5. She is interested in him but he has 0 intrest in her.
Overal the story is well don’t and is a typical Isekai story. It reminds me of Mushoku tensie and the time I resurrected as a slime. It’s not as good as those but it pulls from both stories. The narrator though. I thought he did a fantastic job. He made it easy to understand who was talking and when the person talking changed. He deserves 5 stars even if you don’t like the story.

It’s a decent story with poor pacing issues
Revisado: 05-28-22
I enjoyed the premise of the story. How Tanya comes into being. I just think it struggles following Tanya. Every time something happens it’s from the eyes of her higher ups or from the enemy.
I am also not a huge fan of Monica Rial manly because because of the whole Vic thing, but I enjoy her voice as Tanya. It’s one of my favorite voices in anime as well. But her normal speaking voice hurts me ears.
I will leave with this. I understand why some people enjoy this light novel but it’s not for me. I read lots of LN and this one is the most OK one I’ve read. It’s not bad but it didn’t make me want to listen or read book 2
