Historia
Thirty-three-year-old Abby Stern has made it to a happy place. True, she still has gig jobs instead of a career, and the apartment where she’s lived since college still looks like she’s just moved in. But she’s got good friends, her bike, and her bicycling club in Philadelphia. She’s at peace with her plus-size body—at least, most of the time—and she’s on track to marry Mark Medoff, her childhood sweetheart, a man she met at the weight-loss camp that her perpetually dieting mother forced her to attend.

I have never quit an audiobook before, but I simply cannot listen to this voice narrator another minute. I made it to Chapter 6, but it was painful. I am older, and I have also found the voices of younger women quite unappealing (the Kardashians, for example). I think this is something that they are deliberately cultivating because they find it attractive (not sure if that is the right word, and who knows really what they are thinking?). I have noticed that younger news reporters on NPR are adopting this affect also. I have tried to listen, and keep my attention focused on the content and not the delivery, but it is difficult. If I have a choice, I turn it off. In this case the narrator also stumbles across words, doesn't pay attention to punctuation, and goes flat every now and again.
Seriously cannot speak to the content or story on this one. I just couldn't focus on it.
I am turning off this audiobook and I will go to the library and get on the list to read the hard copy of the book. I only regret what I paid for this experience and will now look at the reviews more closely before choosing. Had I done so, I would have passed on this one.

Could not stop listening...
Revisado: 05-13-22
I have watched Ron and Clint Howard's careers, and long admired what seemed like a smooth transition from child actors to adult actors, and Ron into a storyteller and director. This memoir is beautifully written and listening to Ron and Clint read the words made it even more enjoyable. The book explains well how and why they seemed so "normal" compared to other child actors of the day who unsuccessfully transitioned to adult actors. But, it is a tribute to Rance and Jean Howard whose parenting style is enlightening. There is something for everyone here, and it is not all unicorns and rainbows, but for this 65 year old reader/listener, who grew up with the Andy Griffith Show, Happy Days, American Graffiti, etc., the glimpse behind the scenes was fun and exciting. I generally only listen in my car, but found myself, ear buds in place, listening on walks, and as I worked around the house. I didn't want it to end!
