I'm not all that special, really. I'm sure there are a lot of girls with old gypsy blood who see the dead, have killer cults hunting their family, and turn into something that gets scary when they panic. Yep. I'm just an ordinary girl. I wish people would believe that. I've been labeled as one thing or another for most of my life: Death Girl. Crazy Gypsy Girl. Gothic Chick. Monster. It took my mother's death for me to finally start getting answers about what's really been going on. Unfortunately, most of the answers come from men...who aren't just men.

Male narrator is terrible.

I would have enjoyed this so much more with a different male narrator. I could barely understand him at first and the pauses and timed inflection was awful. The story was great but there is a lot to follow and Shaun Grindell ruined it for me. Unfortunately, I bought all of the series and I’m stuck listening to him! Ugh!

I was supposed to be going to Harvard on a full ride. I’ve always been excellent at chemistry. Turns out my knack for chemicals was because my mum is a witch and a potions master. Apparently, now I’m going to Fortuna Conservatory instead, something about being the princess of Hell. Something big is happening. My birth wouldn’t have been foretold if it wasn’t. I need to unlock all of my gifts as half angel half witch because whatever is going on, I’ve only scratched the surface.

love the book but not the narrated

Disappointed

Love the premise of the story. But right from the very beginning it moved too quickly to get the meat of the story. The main character was too accepting of anything and everything presented to her. The narrator is not to my taste. She was too stilted and made listening not enjoyable. Her inflection was off throughout. After this series, since I’ve already paid for all of them, I will avoid any books read by her. The narrator can really make or break a story and this one is off putting - there are so many other narrators who do a great job, sadly, this one didn’t. I’m not sure I’ll be able to continue the series because of her.
