Historia
A magical serial killer is on the loose, and gelatinous, otherworldly creatures are infesting the English countryside. Which is making life for the Ministry of Occultism difficult, because magic is supposed to be their best kept secret. After centuries in the shadows, the Ministry is forced to unmask, exposing the country's magical history - and magical citizens - to a brave new world of social media, government scrutiny, and public relations.

Great performance of a fun read!
Revisado: 06-29-23
Yahtzee’s token wit and deadpan humor make this otherwise pedestrian commentary on PC culture a hell of a good time!

I Finished it in a day and a half
Revisado: 11-12-17
It may not be jim butchers fury series or Tolkien's lord of the rings, but I haven't throughly enjoyed both a book and a narrative performance in a very long time. I believe it deserves the 5 stars just simply for how much fun this book was.
If you enjoyed shows such as log horizon or grimgar fantasy then this book is a necessity

Historia
The first great war of Ovira is over, and the most hated king in centuries is dead, but his nephew still lives. However, Basen had nothing to do with the destructive war his uncle started. In fact it was his uncle who exiled him and his father to the territory of their enemies, where Basen's dreams of becoming a legendary mage now fade, as he must work all day just to eat. His only chance at regaining some semblance of the life he thought he would lead is to join an elite school that trains, houses, and feeds a thousand new young men and women each year.

Great book, terrible narration
Revisado: 05-14-17
The story was great as well as the characters, but he really needs to work on his dialogue. At times I felt like it was a high schooler writing, which shouldn't mean anything as Christopher Paloni wrote Eragon at 18.
I will still Finnish the series though, as it was very enjoyable.
