Probably the Best Trek Book I’ve Read
Revisado: 12-04-24
I haven’t had much luck reading Star Trek novels, but this one was different. It was a fun story and innovative tie in to Star Trek IV. I enjoyed reading about another mission involving Saavik and learning more about her character. I highly recommend reading it if you enjoy Star Trek IV.

Historia
In the early 20th century, business elites, trade associations, wealthy powerbrokers, and media allies set out to build a new American orthodoxy: down with 'big government' and up with unfettered markets. With startling archival evidence, Oreskes and Conway document campaigns to rewrite textbooks, combat unions, and defend child labor.

Repetitive
Revisado: 04-30-23
The book dragged for me, it seemed to tell the same thing over and over again. I started to skip chapters to hear about more modern examples of corporations trying to influence the population.

Good Listen
Revisado: 11-02-22
It was a good listen as I didn’t know much about the dust bowl. However, the later chapters are a bit repetitive.

Historia
American democracy is at an impasse. After years of zero-sum partisan trench warfare, our political institutions are deteriorating. Our norms are collapsing. Democrats and Republicans no longer merely argue; they cut off contact with each other. In short, the two-party system is breaking our democracy, and driving us all crazy.

A Good Trek Read
Revisado: 11-05-17
Overall it was a good listen, but my major complaint was the writing for Pike. The Saru and Una interactions along with Spock and Michael's were the highlight of the book. Why do colonists have to curse so much?
