Historia
With laugh-out-loud funny parenting observations, the New York Times best-selling author and award-winning comedian delivers a book that is perfect for anyone who has ever raised a child, been a child, or refuses to stop acting like one. Along with hilarious and poignant stories he has never shared before, this audiobook is sprinkled with poetry Jen wrote as she navigated the same rocky shores of new parenthood.

5 whining hours from formerly-uproarious comedian
Revisado: 06-20-20
Been a fan of Mike’s for years now. Seen him live in Boston, New York… His self-deprecating humor being his mainstay, I expected silly dad stories from him – not a diatribe of whining, “poor me, I’m so ignored” from start to finish. Half of this book isn’t even him – it’s his wife’s blurbs of poetry mostly about fish (clearly an allusion to their kid, but if I wanted to hear poetry I’d buy HER book – does she have one?).
Sorry to say this really has put me off of Mike now. As a two-time father myself, of course I can relate to the initial fear of being left behind in the family unit – but most of us learn what magic there is in being a parent. He seems to come around at the VERY end – but it doesn’t make up for the 98% of the rest of my listening life being lost… sorry to write…

Historia
When Star Wars burst on to the big screen in 1977, an unfailingly polite golden droid called C-3PO captured imaginations around the globe. But C-3PO wasn’t an amazing display of animatronics with a unique and unforgettable voice-over. Inside the metal costume was an actor named Anthony Daniels. In this deeply personal memoir, Anthony Daniels recounts his experiences of the epic cinematic adventure that has influenced pop culture for more than 40 years. For the very first time, he candidly describes his most intimate memories as the only actor to appear in every Star Wars film.

Revisado: 12-27-19
You get lots of fun, behind-the-scenes Star Wars info from all the films (and some sorry TV specials) and I always prefer hearing the author read the works (especially when it's in so identifiable a voice). But it seemed at every opportunity Daniels would tortuously wonder why the concerns and dramatic needs of 3PO weren't the most important considerations of set constructors, costume designers, art directors, screenwriters, and (of course) directors. Of course actors must deal with difficult situations on-set - and many fans may be unaware of those specific to Daniels's situation- but dwelling on them in every aspect gets really tiring and (sorry to complain) annoying. I would grant unquestionably how iconic the character is to the saga - but he's comic relief (and his inclusion in many of the films seems forced - no pun intended - to me). For fans you certainly get your money's worth at nearly 9 1/2 hours - but some judicious editing would have made this a much more pleasant to list to 8 1/2 hours...

The dead talk - to the right listener. They can tell us all about themselves: where they came from, how they lived, how they died, and, of course, who killed them. Forensic scientists can unlock the mysteries of the past and help serve justice using the messages left by a corpse, a crime scene, or the faintest of human traces.

Took me a while to get used to our narrator's accent but she was good - except for her annoying high pitched whiney American accent. Sheesh.

Historia
Packed with "compelling inside stories" (Chicago Tribune), Teammate is the inspiring memoir from "Grandpa Rossy", the veteran catcher who became the heart and soul of the 2016 Chicago Cubs championship team and was named manager in 2019. In 2016 the Cubs snapped a 108-year curse, winning the World Series in a history-making, seven-game series against the Cleveland Indians. Of the many storylines to Chicago's fairytale season, one stood out: The late-career renaissance of David Ross, the 39-year-old catcher who had played back-up for 13 of his 15 pro seasons.

Fun book - where was Rossy?
Revisado: 06-11-17
Where does Teammate rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
One of my personal favorites.
What did you like best about this story?
The insider info on the path to the 2019 Series.
What three words best describe Gregory Abbey’s voice?
Intense, clear and concise. His performance is fine and I didn't want my three stars to reflect poorly on him...It was just that for $26 I'd really hoped to hear Ross narrate himself...
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The discussion of when Maddon took him out in the middle of his last game on the mound with Lester, et. al.

Historia
Charles Schulz, the most widely syndicated and beloved cartoonist of all time, is also one of the most misunderstood figures in American culture. Now, acclaimed biographer David Michaelis gives us the first full-length biography of Schulz: at once a creation story, a portrait of a hidden American genius, and a chronicle contrasting the private man with the central role he played in shaping the national imagination.

Engaging, disallusioning story of famed cartoonist
Revisado: 03-14-16
If you could sum up Schulz and Peanuts in three words, what would they be?
Engaging backstory tale.
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
Most interesting was history of his breaking into the business. Least interesting was repetitive commentary of how the strip never reflected Schulz's life (when it clearly did).
What about Holter Graham’s performance did you like?
Narration was superb (is it just me or does Graham sound an awful lot like Charlie Brown should?).
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Worst reaction was how sick and tired I got of Schulz whining about how nobody loved him, what a clear womanizer he seemed to be (at least mentally), and how all he needed was a break. Very disillusioning. I now have to work to forget that to enjoy these classic characters I (used to?) love.

Paranormal Snoozer
Revisado: 11-26-14
What disappointed you about The Haunted?
An overwrought detailing of supposedly paranormal events by a frustrated English major. Every detail examined from five different angles, the listener is forced into the characters’ minds and tortured with drawn-out ponderings of what could POSSIBLY be happening…?! Need to be titillated with soft core soap opera-style sex…? Seems all these two have on their minds when they aren’t droning on about imaginings of possible explanations (times three or four) for these drawn-out, boring events. Don’t waste your time or money here – get something like “Paranormal Intruder” instead…
Has The Haunted turned you off from other books in this genre?
Just made me much more aware of following reviews...
How could the performance have been better?
Performance was adequate. Material was awful, so she had little to do to make it interesting.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
None of which I can really think...
Any additional comments?
Torturous writing made these minimal events drag on for what seemed like hours. If I want drawn-out childish details of sex and "true love," I'll read some old Dean Koontz.

York is undisputedly the most actively haunted area in the UK. The team members encounter the legendary "Ghost of the Brotherhood", an entity that has terrified locals for hundreds of years. The investigation climaxes into a bloodcurdling confrontation with the afterlife. The Blair Witch was fiction, these events are REAL.

ParaNoNo
Revisado: 11-11-13
What disappointed you about Paranormal Case Files: Ghost Investigations?
Wow, what a waste of time. The first chapter is a nearly incoherent tour through some post-nuclear (regularly mispronounced by the interviewer) facility. With distracting music and sound effects it's impossible to really hear the similarly-distracting British interviewer. Chapter two is nothing more than spooky music. I gave up fast...
What was most disappointing about Paul Wookey and Brian Allan ’s story?
There's no story, at least through what what I was able to sit. It's a tour of some bunker...
What didn’t you like about the narrators’s performance?
There's no narrator. This sounds like the audio track of some BBC documentary on a US facility designed to serve as the governmental base following a nuclear war.
What character would you cut from Paranormal Case Files: Ghost Investigations?
Again, this didn't seem fictional.
Any additional comments?
I am seriously wondering if this audio was misfiled under a different book title name. It seems NOTHING like what the title suggested it would be...

Like lots of college grads, Daniel Seddiqui was having a hard time finding a job. But despite more than 40 rejections, he knew opportunities had to exist. So he set out on an extraordinary quest: 50 jobs in 50 states in 50 weeks. And not just any jobs; he chose professions that reflected the culture and economy of each state, working as everything from a cheesemaker in Wisconsin, a border patrol agent in Arizona, and a meatpacker in Kansas to a lobsterman in Maine, a surfing instructor in Hawaii, and more.

Whiner can't grow up so he writes a book instead
Revisado: 03-04-12
What disappointed you about 50 Jobs in 50 States?
The first two hours are whining about what a great chance he had but things just kept beating him down. Gee, he WANTS to succeed but life is just so tough on him. Mommy and Daddy don't love him. Wah wah wah. The self-pitying got SO annoying I had to turn it off.
Would you ever listen to anything by Daniel Seddiqui again?
Nope.
Would you listen to another book narrated by L. J. Ganser?
Sure, I'd try. Performance was fine but the material was so annoying I began associating Ganser's voice with the dislike I had for the book.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from 50 Jobs in 50 States?
The entire book is structured so that you can't really cut just one scene. EVERY section seems to start with the author gearing up to fight the dragons, then he's rejected and falls into another sad, sorry condition and has to bemoan his life. I was really looking forward to a

Historia
Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, bestselling author, and failed Wheel of Fortune contestant Dave Barry has questions—lots of them—and sets out to find the answers. If you've ever wondered things such as, “Just how does Oprah have the power to turn a 1957 Hotpoint toaster manual into a #1 bestseller?” or “What makes people want to eat animals they would never consider petting?”, then this book is for you. Dave Barry proves that one man even in this incredibly complex global society using only his mind and the power of information can make a difference.
