Beautiful and uplifting
Revisado: 10-18-22
A most beautiful and uplifting story of a life of reflection, creativity, and beauty while navigating a world rife with violence, divisiveness and cynicism. Cannot recommend this story
enough if you are looking to define the terms of your being rather than feeling tossed about by an indifferent or hostile world all around.

Historia
When Satya, a professor and author, attends a prestigious artists' retreat to write, he finds the pressures of the outside world won’t let up: the president rages online; a dangerous virus envelops the globe; and the twenty-four-hour news cycle throws fuel on every fire. For most of the retreat fellows, such stories are unbearable distractions, but for Satya, who sees them play out in both America and his native India, these Orwellian interruptions begin to crystallize into an idea for his new novel, Enemies of the People, about the lies we tell ourselves and one another.

Historia
Manas ka hans is a brilliant attempt to bring forth the life of Goswami Tulsidas. The novel is an attempt to address the complications of religion through Tulsidas while portraying him as a person who was afflicted with all the virtues and vices known to human beings. How Tulsidas finds Shri Ram is a question that the author answers in a fashion that can only be termed brilliant, for lack of better word. The best thing about the work is that it doesn't attempt to glorify any God or deity but simply tries to go into the mind of the devotee - Tulsidas, in this case.

The life story of Tulasi Das is brought to life in this book, as if you are witnessing his journey firsthand. Great book!

Excellent book very well read
Revisado: 09-24-20
Loved the book and loved the rendition by Meena Nahata. First the book, it's a great subject matter, Sant Tulsidas, the poet Saint who kept the faith going through India's tumultuous historical period during Mughal empire... Although in the self effacing tradition of India, the prolific Tulsidas has said nothing about himself, there's much historical information about his time and life those days, that lends itself to fill in the blanks. It's here that Amritlal Nagar has created a marvelous piece of historical fiction that deserves much more readership in the current generation than probably it is getting. This brings us to this audio book. It's a commendable production... Loved every bit of it. Meena Nahata is a highly talented reader, I'd gladly pick another Audiobook read by her. At this point I'd point out one area where I would have liked better: while the narration was great overall... The recitation of dohas and chaupais sounded clunky... But overall, I'm a grateful audiobook consumer and hope to tap into more...

Historia
Are we deranged? The acclaimed Indian novelist Amitav Ghosh argues that future generations may well think so. How else to explain our imaginative failure in the face of global warming? In his first major book of nonfiction since In an Antique Land, Ghosh examines our inability - at the level of literature, history, and politics - to grasp the scale and violence of climate change.

An urgent case for the art of climate change
Revisado: 06-05-20
The existential challenge of climate change is strikingly unrepresented in contemporary literature, art and culture. This book explores the why and the how... A great synthesis of diverse strands of thoughts - refreshingly novel and persuasive. The somewhat contrived optimistic ending is the only soft spot... But this grateful reader is happy to indulge this painstakingly sincere author. Love!
