The narrator really brought it to life
Revisado: 03-25-24
The story is great and I read the book but the narrator really brought it to life.

When a beloved coworker is found dead next to her desk, the whole office gets paranoid. Is one of them a killer? Did the victim leave behind clues in the book she was writing? Is there a town-wide conspiracy, or is some lone serial predator on the loose?

This book is not good at all
Revisado: 11-22-20
It’s all focused on aunt zinnia and it is slow and boring and the characters have no depth. I would just skip over books 6 and seven and go straight to eight. This book is not worth the credit. I wish I could return it and get my credit back. I couldn’t tell if the narrator was any good because the story was just so drawn out and boring

Historia
Gideon Frayne has spent his whole working life as a policeman in the village of Dark on Bodmin Moor. His first missing-child case is eating him alive. When his own boss sends in a psychic to help with the case, he's gutted - he's a level-headed copper who doesn't believe in such things, and he can't help but think that the arrival of clairvoyant Lee Tyack is a comment on his failure to find the little girl. But Lee is hard to hate, no matter how Gideon tries. At first Lee's insights into the case make no sense, but he seems to have a window straight into Gideon's heart.

The book was about a homosexual relationship
Revisado: 07-31-18
Worst book I’ve read in a long time. Luckily it was only $2.95, but even that was too much.

Heralded as an instant classic of fantasy literature, Maguire has written a wonderfully imaginative retelling of The Wizard of Oz told from the Wicked Witch's point of view. More than just a fairy tale for adults, Wicked is a meditation on the nature of good and evil.

The narration was awful. He sounded like he was speaking in a tunnel or a tin can
Revisado: 11-18-16
Why was there such a weird noise in the background of his voice? Ruined a magnificent story. If it drives me too crazy I may have to return it. Wicked is a classic. More care should have been taken in the audio presentation.

Historia
Winter is coming. Such is the stern motto of House Stark, the northernmost of the fiefdoms that owe allegiance to King Robert Baratheon in far-off King's Landing. There Eddard Stark of Winterfell rules in Robert's name. Far to the north, behind the towering Wall, lie savage Wildings and worse - unnatural things relegated to myth during the centuries-long summer, but proving all too real and all too deadly in the turning of the season. Yet a more immediate threat lurks to the south, where Jon Arryn, the Hand of the King, has died under mysterious circumstances....

Fantastic!
Revisado: 04-24-13
Would you consider the audio edition of A Game of Thrones to be better than the print version?
I think audio books are far superior to printed books if they have a good reader. Roy Dotrice has made the characters come alive.
Who was your favorite character and why?
The mother of dragons. I'm on book 3 and everything is still up in the air, but I think she will come out on top. I'm rooting for her.
Have you listened to any of Roy Dotrice’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
He kind of made everyone sound old and fat and a couple sounded like Long John Silver. I think I've been spoiled by the beautiful people in the TV series. But he does a very good job.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
Lions and Dire Wolves and Crackens, oh my.
Any additional comments?
I'm addicted to these books.
