This book would have been better as a short story. It was pretty hackneyed. I played games on my phone while I listened to it because I try to always finish a book.

Disappointed

Dean Koontz has become unpredictable in the last few years. I never know if his books will be hit or miss. This one was a big miss. It’s the same story we’ve heard from him before, a mom and a special child in trouble but this time with gang bangers. Way to much of the gang bangers. Poor Eduardo Ballerini, first time I haven’t enjoyed his reading but it wasn’t his fault. It was the material he was given.

This is a cute series, although there is some mayhem. The narrator has a perfect voice for the character.

Long and boring

It’s difficult to like a book when you don’t like the main characters. Totally unbelievable and unlikely plot. There are much better books.

Irritating Narration

I didn’t love this book. Koontz has a bad habit of making his bad guys all the same. I also had a hard time liking the male lead, apparently he is extremely intelligent but hides it from his parents so they don’t try to make him live up to his potential. He just wants to be a surfer dude and call himself “Pogo”. I just hope this narrator never does Jane Hawk because I really like that series.

Really boring

I quit with eleven hours left. The narrator has a strong British accent that was difficult to understand, partially because she talks so fast, I think. I have listened to many other books with British narrators and never had this problem before. Also, at the point that I gave up, nothing seems to have happened, I kept zoning out. I wasted a credit on this one.

The Narrator Spoiled This Book

I think this might be a fun book to read but I could not stand listening to the reader. He made the sexy, good looking lead sound like someone's old,stuffy,grouchy uncle.I am sure he would be fine reading some other type of book, but he ruimed this book for me.

Irritating Lead Character and Narrator

I was looking for some fun reading after finishing the Sookie Stackhouse books. I had read some very good reviews of this series and decided to try it. The narrator is really horrible, some of her voices sound like cartoon characters. The heroine is very childish and irritating.

Kind of Boring....

I really thought I would like this book, but it was reeeaallly s-l-o-w. It felt like there was a lot of repetition. I just didn't care about the characters.
