Historia
We've come a long way in the forty years since the Shongairi attacked Earth, killed half its people, and then were driven away by an alliance of humans with the other sentient bipeds who inhabit our planet. We took the technology they left behind, and rapidly built ourselves into a starfaring civilization. Because we haven't got a moment to lose. Because it's clear that there are even more powerful, more hostile aliens out there, and Earth needs allies. But it also transpires that the Shongairi expedition that nearly destroyed our home planet ... wasn't an official one.

Another great installment of this series but…
Revisado: 01-22-24
The narrator sucked. Giving Americans from the South, British accents was not cool with me. It grated on my ears and made listening less enjoyable. The story was good and I look forward to the next book.

Historia
It's spring in Burgundy. The flowers are out and so are the cardinals - of Pope Urban's renegade papacy, now on the run from the Vatican's would-be usurper Borja. Most of the Church's senior leaders have converged upon the city of Besancon, where the Pope plans to offer an ecumenical olive branch to the other Christian denominations with which Rome has been at war. Fortunately, Urban has up-time help. He can rely upon Cardinal-Protector Larry Mazzare's theological savvy, Sharon Nichols' medical skills, and her husband Ruy Sanchez's keen-eyed experience as a bodyguard-in-chief.

For established Ring of Fire fans this was a treat
Revisado: 05-05-18
An established fan may enjoy this as a continuation of one of my personal favorite spinoff, the ecumenical fallout of Grantville's appearance. it is slow at points but not enough to make me put the book down.
For newbies, recommend reading of previous books is a must to get the full potential of the story and implications.

Historia
On November 22, 1963, three shots rang out in Dallas, President Kennedy died, and the world changed. What if you could change it back? In this brilliantly conceived tour de force, Stephen King - who has absorbed the social, political, and popular culture of his generation more imaginatively and thoroughly than any other writer - takes listeners on an incredible journey into the past and the possibility of altering it.

Revisado: 12-05-17
I'm not a great Stephen King fan because I cannot read his horror/thrillers. However that does not take away the fact that the man can spin a yarn. As a lover of alternate history, this book is among the greats. And the Glen Miller sample took the cake.

Historia
In Philadelphia - suffering among the country's highest murder rates - the tension between the Philadelphia Police Department and its Citizens Oversight Committee has long been reaching a boiling point. That turmoil turns from bad to worse shortly after the committee begins targeting police shootings - especially those of twenty-seven-year-old Homicide Sergeant Matt Payne, the "Wyatt Earp of the Main Line" - and then the committee's combative leader is found shot dead point-blank on the front porch of his run-down Philly row house.

Major disappointment
Revisado: 10-25-16
I don't fault Scott Brick for this travesty. Ending sucks, even if this was a lead in a two-part story, there was no resolution to go away with until the next book. At least, not a satisfactory one. All through the story I kept waiting for something to happen to move the story forward. The book ended before In realized I'd come to the end.
