Historia
A huge novel that follows five families through the world-shaking dramas of the First World War, the Russian Revolution, and the struggle for votes for women. It is 1911. The Coronation Day of King George V. The Williams, a Welsh coal-mining family, is linked by romance and enmity to the Fitzherberts, aristocratic coal-mine owners. Lady Maud Fitzherbert falls in love with Walter von Ulrich, a spy at the German Embassy in London.

Worst Ken Follet Ever
Revisado: 09-19-23
I am a huge Follet fan and have read almost all of them but this one was just a torrid experience. He seems to have just sat down to produce a very long book regardless of its literary value. It's just a long boring meaningless account of the FIrst World War and its politics. In between the long account he throws in a mish-mash of many different stories and characters in a forced and incoherent way that have no place in one book. I was desperate to finish it and the only way was to skip through many chapters at a time but still the book would not end. Longest waste of 30 hours and 36 minutes

When you listen to this audiobook, you will make many assumptions. You will assume you are listening to a story about a jealous ex-wife. You will assume she is obsessed with her replacement - a beautiful, younger woman who is about to marry the man they both love. You will assume you know the anatomy of this tangled love triangle. Assume nothing. Twisted and deliciously chilling, The Wife Between Us exposes the secret complexities of an enviable marriage - and the dangerous truths we ignore in the name of love.

Confused and confusing
Revisado: 01-13-23
The first part of the book was truly great and well written, very engaging and enjoyable but unbeknownst to the poor reader the authors had brewed a plot to sabotage the book. Their intention to drop a bombshell failed horribly because even they themselves got confused with the plot and the intention. The 2nd part of the book is confused and confusing and makes absolutely no sense.

Historia
Julian Fellowes's Belgravia is the story of a secret. A secret that unravels behind the porticoed doors of London's grandest postcode. Set in the 1840s, when the upper echelons of society began to rub shoulders with the emerging industrial nouveau riche, Belgravia is peopled by a rich cast of characters. But the story begins on the eve of the Battle of Waterloo in 1815. At the Duchess of Richmond's now legendary ball, one family's life will change forever.

Loved everything about it. Very well written and perfomed. The story and characters were very well developed but I felt the end was a bit forced and rushed. Could it be that I just didn't want it to end?

I read this book now in 2022 a full 32 years after reading it in school as the set text. I was 16 then and I'm glad I read it again with the eyes of an adult. I will read it again to remind me about the importance of humanity and the essence of civilisation.

Long tiring but worthwhile
Revisado: 02-02-21
Very ambitious project. Ken Follett couldnt help himself as he just had to force a spy thriller and trade it off as a continuation of the Knightsridge series and final in the trilogy when in essence it's not but a completely different theme. He throws in the word Knightsridge here and there & sets a few scenes there just for convenience . The book is long and tiring but not an entirely waste of time as one does get plenty of history lessons for the price of a novel.

Historia
Discovered in the attic in which she spent the last years of her life, Anne Frank’s remarkable diary has since become a world classic - a powerful reminder of the horrors of war and an eloquent testament to the human spirit. In 1942, with Nazis occupying Holland, a 13-year-old Jewish girl and her family fled their home in Amsterdam and went into hiding. For the next two years, until their whereabouts were betrayed to the Gestapo, they and another family lived cloistered in the “Secret Annex” of an old office building.

Literary Genius.
Revisado: 12-13-15
If you could sum up A Short History of Nearly Everything in three words, what would they be?
Absolutely Gobsmacking!
What was one of the most memorable moments of A Short History of Nearly Everything?
That information about the fossils and how the world will likely end in a big encounter with an asteroid
What about Richard Matthews’s performance did you like?
Everything. Perfect reader
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Yes it moved me in evry way. My mind sang
Any additional comments?
This is a must read for everyone. In Utopia it would be handed out at street corners because everybody would know these things. I highly recommend this book. THe deeply physics stuff was a bit daunting sometimes and I would get lost but not completely lost. The book is well balanced between what you will not understand at all and lots that you will find absolutely riveting and awe inspiring. I had many epiphanies when I was going through it. I did the audio book and I will download the book onto my kindle so that I always have it handy and can go back and forth which you cannot do with an audio book.
That information about fossils and the age of the earth(even though I was not totally convinced!) .
Oh my God! You will learn so much about the history of nearly everything and feel very intelligent and sophisticated just for coming across the information.
