At least sustained me for a while...if you want an easy listen, go for it. Definitely chick lit.

Historia
He was born Temujin, son of a khan, raised in a clan of hunters migrating across the steppe. Temujin's young life was shaped by a series of brutal acts: the betrayal of his father by a neighboring tribe, his family left to die on the harsh plain. But Temujin endured, and from then on, he was driven by a fury to survive in the face of death, to kill before being killed, and to conquer enemies from beyond the horizon.

Did not work for me!
Revisado: 10-30-10
I tried to educate myself, but the narration way too monotone and the story told so tediously - maybe it's a guys book?

Revisado: 10-30-10
If I can't get into a book in the first hour - I quit. I liked the narrators voice and accent, just couldn't sustain me -- I do not have much patience...

In pitch-perfect voices, Kathryn Stockett creates three extraordinary women whose determination to start a movement of their own forever changes a town, and the way women—mothers, daughters, caregivers, friends—view one another. A deeply moving novel filled with poignancy, humor, and hope, The Help is a timeless and universal story about the lines we abide by, and the ones we don't.

A fantastic listen - perfect acting
Revisado: 12-07-09
One of the best books I have listened to. Probably would have thought it too predictable and shallow for a read - but the readings and characters on the audio made the story come alive. I laughed and cheered for the characters. I could not wait to continue the book every day. Along with The Glass Castle - my favorite audio book.

Awful writing. Bad acting. Save your self time and skip this one. Unless I guess you love daytime soap operas.

Excellent - hard to stop listening to...
Revisado: 03-12-09
I look for books that can sustain me while on long runs. This one does. It tells an important part of Boston history - often really gruesome detailing the clash of Irish police and blacks and strikers and factories in gritty Boston. The narration is excellent. The Glass Castle was the only other book that held my interest so much.

Good book/Weak audio
Revisado: 01-27-07
I am sure this is a great and important book, well written, etc. Unfortunately, it did not translate well into an audio book for me. Very hard to pay attention and keep interesed. The reading did not help bring the words alive either. After 2 hours, I am quiting!

LOVED IT!
Revisado: 06-11-06
This is my 3rd books on tape -- and the best! I loved it -- both the story and and reading....compelling, fascinating..the best acting/reading I have ever heard. The family obviously gave her Jeannette her strength, smarts, and her anger...A must listen-to book!
