Historia
Once, he’d been a captive of the ancient trunk in the cellar of Bell House. Still, all that ended years ago when a little girl went snooping and found what she mistook for a miraculous and magical new friend. The tragedy that forced the little girl to move away from the old house left him heartbroken, but he is nothing if not patient. Sooner or later, someone always comes, and when they do, he’s never disappointed. But then the moving van arrives, bringing back the girl from long ago as a grown woman. Things in the cellar of Bell House are about to get very interesting, indeed.

Brilliant narration!
Revisado: 12-21-21
This is a fantastic short thriller that had me on my toes throughout my listen... it was very well written, but I couldn't step away because the narration was truly riveting! Mia Moravis gives a brilliant performance, building subtle tension throughout the book and creating clear, consistent, fantastic characters in this unnerving dance of a novella. She also has an incredibly easy to listen to, articulate, and trustworthy narrator's voice. I can't wait for another listen from Ms. Moravis. And I applaud Smith's ability to translate this piece so seamlessly from theatre script to novella. This is a very well done piece of storytelling!

Award-winning narrator and internationally acclaimed writer/comedienne, Alison Larkin brings her signature wit to this hugely entertaining audio production of Jane Austen's first novel, Northanger Abbey, followed by The History of England, a short, delightfully satirical piece that Austen wrote when she was just 15 years old.

Wonderful narration to Jane Austen's 1st Novel.

Absolutely LOVED this sublime performance!
Revisado: 03-01-17
What a delight!
Alison Larkin has done it again -- an outstanding performance with her usual wit and humor, as well as tremendous characterization, in this wonderful performance of Northanger Abbey!
Just as Larkin introduced us to Jane Austen's little known poems in her narration of Persuasion, here she has included even more little-known Austen in the humorous and satirical "History of England. I loved listening to Jane Austen's "History of England"-- which was completely new to me, as it may be for many other Austen fans.
"Northanger Abbey and the History of England" is a great addition in Larkin's growing collection of Jane Austen novels. I loved her narration of Pride & Prejudice (with songs from Regency England), Persuasion & Poems, and Emma, too!
Definitely worth the listen whether it's your first time with Northanger Abbey or your 50th!

Author Gerald Elias, a renowned concert violinist himself, performs the music. LOVED this incredible Audiobook Experience!
Revisado: 02-09-17
An experience is truly the only way to describe this WONDERFUL audiobook!
I've never heard anything like it- gorgeous violin music is intertwined in this thrilling mystery novel as an essential component of the story-telling. The music informs the story and is expertly played by the talented author- Gerald Elias.
The story itself, is mesmerizing and I can't wait for the next audiobook in the series!
Jim Frangione is the cream of the crop when it comes to narrators and his voice suits the story perfectly.
This is an experience not to be missed! I've loved all of the Alison Larkin Presents classics, but this is something truly new and wonderful! More please:)

Fresh from a brief stay at a psych hospital, reporter Camille Preaker faces a troubling assignment: She must return to her tiny hometown to cover the murders of two preteen girls. For years, Camille has hardly spoken to her neurotic, hypochondriac mother or to the half-sister she barely knows: a beautiful 13-year-old with an eerie grip on the town. Now, installed in her old bedroom in her family's Victorian mansion, Camille finds herself identifying with the young victims - a bit too strongly.

Maybe even better than Gone Girl
Revisado: 11-08-16
Would you consider the audio edition of Sharp Objects to be better than the print version?
Most likely. Gillian Flynn writes such deeply subjective fiction that it helps to have someone read it to you in their voice, like an account.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Amma. She was just so delightfully creepy and sad.
Which character – as performed by Ann Marie Lee – was your favorite?
Also, probably Amma. Ann Marie Lee hit the nail on the head with this little know-it-all's tone. She painted a portrait of her with her voice. But also Camille, the lead.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Sure! But also again and again.

Unbelievable contemporary conspiracy novel!
Revisado: 11-08-16
If you could sum up Lock In (Narrated by Amber Benson) in three words, what would they be?
Suspenseful, groundbreaking, futuristic
Have you listened to any of Amber Benson’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No. but she did a wonderful job with some of the characters and I once I got used to her voice, I really enjoyed the narrative.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yeah! It totally gripped me. I couldn't consume it fast enough. I felt the same way listening to Gone Girl!
Any additional comments?
I LOVE that audible hired two different narrators to read the book, giving the listener an opportunity to choose which voice they most identified with, given that Chris' gender is undefined. I think the anonymity of our protagonist is my favorite part about this incredible novel.

Sweet, poignant, clever and beautifully narrated!
Revisado: 11-08-16
What did you love best about Why Can't I Be You?
The book has a very witty concept and the characters are incredibly loveable. Our heroine is a well-rounded woman, too! Easy to be on her side, but she's not perfect.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Why Can't I Be You?
#nospoilers but probably when Jenny decides to stay and try on Jessie...
What does Julia Whelan bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
She is incredible story teller, giving the appropriate amount of nuance to her lead character and filling out the rest of the cast brilliantly (and believably)! One of my favorite narrators!
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The exchange with Robbie about having kids and carrying the burdens of their parents.... very touching and well-read.
Any additional comments?
I highly recommend anything written by Allie Larkin or read by Julia Whelan. The two made an exquisite pair!

Delightful Tale for Little Listeners - Superb Narration!
Revisado: 11-02-15
The Birthday Dinosaur is a guaranteed to be a hit with your little one! Such a sweet and exciting short story... It would be perfect for listening to on a rainy, quiet, indoor day of as a bedtime story, but I'll be surprised if they aren't asking for it on repeat!
Alison Larkin is a skillful narrator, creating dynamic characters who you can't help falling in love with. She is also a very talented writer, both of which I knew from listening to her read her novel The English American. But I am pleased to report she expertly understands the genre of children's literature as an author, narrator, and producer... Working in subtle sound effects and music that enhance the listening experience.
I would highly recommend anything produced by British Classic Audio! Especially this gem of a book!
