A True Villain Story

One of the rare “true” villain stories I’ve come across that made it into the audio format. What’s better is it doesn’t go in the “I do evil stuff because I’m evil” direction. MC has a reason for the things she does even though those reasons make little sense to a rational person, but if you’re able to view things through a complete psychopath’s point of view you’ll understand why she does what she does. MC both kills, saves, and sometimes kills those she saved because it benefits her in some way or she just felt like it for whatever reason. MC is a complete psychopath but like I said she has reasons to do what she does (usually).

There is no revealed leveling system but there is a system that hasn’t been revealed to the MC as far as I understand. The system is seen as a god type being.

The story isn’t the best but the characters are actually some of the best especially when compared to most other True Villain main character stories. I’m not particularly enthused with stories that start 10 years in the future (or however far it is for this story), I prefer stories to start at the beginning.

It’s good enough I’ll buy book 2 and it’s unique enough I’ll remember it exists which means something in a library of over 1,400 books. The narrator was fine, she pronounces a few words incorrectly but it was only a handful of times. The narrator is one of the better female narrators who can actually manage a male’s voice however many of her male voices boil down to the “whiny weak male” types despite them supposedly being warriors and whatnot

I just couldn't get into this. MC is 2 dimensional and the story is very basic at the start. just felt like the author had a deadline to release a new book so this was pumped out to satisfy the agreement.

Slice of life isn't what I usually enjoy but this wasn't bad at all, I really enjoyed it and didn't feel like I had to endure any parts that were unenjoyable. for it's genre I'd give it a solid 10/10.

The narrator sucks saying "plaid" as "played" and other similar nonsense. Dude needs to actually learn how to say words properly, how anyone let's him narrate anything more than the instructions for a toaster I don't know.

The author sucks going on tangent after tangent inside of other tangents until you've gone down the rabbit hole so far you've completely forgotten MC is actually in a fight to death because you're 10 minutes deep in some crap that's supposed to be tangential realted to what's going on. The author could be taking the bus from his house to the grocery store and somehow end up in Antarctica before finally realizing he just needed milk.

The pacing is utter trash, there is barely any interactions between other people and the MC that doesn't lead to 20 minutes of side tangents, and the story just sucks.

I somehow remembered this story as some awesome thing but I suppose I just forgot how garbage of a duo these neanderthals make. Neither of these knuckle draggers will ever be a part of anything I buy.

This is what book 7 should've been

I found book 7 to be VERY disappointing story wise and felt like filler. This one restored my faith in the author. Much less focus on Kira and much more focus on boxxy which I felt was greatly lacking the last few books.

Some annoying audio artifacts in the first chapter or two but it wasn't unbearable. Honestly something I would've expected SBT to notice and fix.

Typical book 3 by Arand

Follows the typical feeling I get from Randi/Arand books. Book 1 is awesome, book 2 is great but not as good as one, book 3 and I'm ready to drop the series.

The cast of characters is out of control, you get something like 15 minutes of dialogue for half of the characters while even more new characters are introduced. So many of the older characters just get relegated to the background and are basically props for the MC to use or come save the day at the last moment only to get shoved back into obscurity.

As always, Andrea is a legend (5 stars as always), Arand gave me the usual let down on book 3. Just makes me so irritated because a decent story is actually written but it's overshadowed by craptastic half developed characters that are shoved in because "hehe, MC is a horny bastard".

I think Lori got one or two lines the whole book, the main female cast from book 1 was nearly non-existent, and half of book 2's might as well have died or something because they were absent as well.

Too many numbers, it detracts from the story too much. find something else if you want to actually enjoy something.

I went into this expecting very little as I never heard anything from the author or narrator's before but I was pleasantly surprised by both the writing and the narrator's. This isn't some amazing story or performance but the quality is great.

Time goes by pretty quickly (something like 2 years) so the pacing is great and you don't feel like you're missing anything. It doesn't leave you with an annoying cliff ha ger like so many books these days but I still do look forward to the next book. I'll buy it as soon as it's released and if you are on the fence about this story don't be, it's worth it.

Love the story, narrator is top notch, story is a bit slow at times and there are time jumps between some chapters where you aren't told how much time has passed. Can't wait for book 2!

This is by far my favorite series in my library of over 1,000 books, but that being said this one didn't feel like it hit the mark (especially when compared to books 2 or 3).

The book felt like it was changing viewpoints too often, wasn't enough fizzy, and kora took the backseat. The main story also felt like it barely progressed, sure lots happened but the book felt like it didn't move the story closer to an ending or conclusion of some sort, just felt like the MC was spinning it's wheels whilst not actually moving.

l still enjoyed the book, just didn't quite scratch that itch this series usually does. At the end of book 5 I was PUMPED for the next book (which was my usual feeling for all the other books) but at the end of this I didn't get that feeling. Maybe once I listen to it again one or five more times I'll change my mind.

This is still my favorite series, and I'd still highly recommend it. Jeff and the crew were amazeballs as usual, nothing really much else to say about them.
