Historia
Gaia is dying. That, at least, is what Dr. Lionel Scott believes. A renowned expert in tropical and infectious diseases, Scott has witnessed the devastating impact of illness and turmoil at critical scale. Society as it exists is untenable, and the direct link to Earth’s death spiral; population levels are out of control and people have allowed disarray and disorder to run rampant. While most are concerned about deadly disease, Scott knows that it is truly humanity itself that will destroy Gaia.

Best read Letty book 2 before this
Revisado: 07-31-24
It was good but I hadn’t read the 2nd Letty book yet, and there are a few to Letty’s storyline that would be beneficial to know before reading (listening I should say) this book.

Historia
September, 1940. The sun is shining, and in the midst of the good weather Londoners could be mistaken for forgetting their country was at war - until the familiar wail of the air-raid sirens heralds an enemy attack. The Blitz has started, and normal life has abruptly ended - but crime has not. That night a man's body is discovered in an unmarked van in the back streets of West Ham. When Detective Inspector John Jago is called to the scene, he recognises the victim: local justice of the peace Charles Villiers. The death looks suspicious, but then a German bomb obliterates all evidence.

It’s ok but..
Revisado: 09-05-23
When the story stays on the mystery and the historical events it’s pretty good. But the story drifts off to philosophizing (for lack of a better word) about politics, morality, class system and the debates about the inequities of war. Which ok, that’s fine but… it goes on and on about it quite often. Too often. After awhile you just want to say, yeah, yeah we get it, how about we get back to the mystery. Not sure if I will continue the series until I find out if this is a recurring issue in the rest of the series.

just end the story when you end a book
Revisado: 09-19-19
I'm bailing on this. I usually don't bother writing reviews, but I'm so frustrated by the drawn out story line that I have found continues even after this book and who knows how much further on. It's shame because the locale and some of the characters are interesting, but I don't want to have to keep guessing who is in on the conspiracy. If each book just had an ending it would have been very good. The narrator was good though.

ok. not great
Revisado: 08-25-18
I've listened to all the novels in this series. The reader is very good first of all, just to get that out of the way. However the story line in this one, didn't have the same sense of tension, for lack of better words, than the other novels.
I feel this is more about character development, which is o.k. but I missed the adventure of the detective story that was in the other books. That's not to state that there wasn't any crime story in this book, but it was mediocre at best in my opinion.
Still worth listening too if you have been through the other books. You still want to know what happens with the characters, but I would like the author to get back to a more intense crime story in the future novels, if there are to be any.

Historia
Cal McGill is an Edinburgh-based oceanographer, environmentalist and one-of-a-kind investigator. Using his knowledge of the waves - ocean currents, prevailing winds, shipping records - McGill can track where objects came from or where they've gone. It's a skill that can help solve mysteries ranging from disappearances to murder. Two severed feet wash up on two different islands off the coast of Scotland. Forensics shows that the feet belong to the same body.

lots of items in the plot, 3 different plots sort of.
flashbacks pop in on the audio and you don't actually know you're in a flashback write away.
lead character alternates between interesting, funny, calm, then anxious and then remorseful. A bit much sometimes.

Historia
A major North American hydroelectric dam is blown up and the largest off-shore oil field in this hemisphere is destroyed in a brutal, coordinated terrorist attack. But there was one factor that the terrorists didn't take into account when they struck the Capitana platform off the coast of Colombia—slaughtering much of the crew and blowing up the platform—and that was the Capitana crew chief Dewey Andreas. Dewey, former Army Ranger and Delta, survives the attack, rescuing as many of his men as possible. But the battle has just begun.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
other people mentioned it too...plodding.too much repetition of the initial event, (don't want to spoiler here)I think the main character's angst is way overdone too.
