Rambling
Revisado: 04-27-08
This book rambles, on and on and on... It takes forever to even get started on the actual story. The writer spends too much time telling what each character is thinking, normally not having a thing to do with the story.
Once it got to the story line, it was a decent plot. I just wish there had been more to it. I found myself wanting to fast forward through a lot of the 1st half of the book to get to the actual story.
It flip-flops back and forth between several scenes so if you don't have time to listen to large portions of it at the same time you tend to get lost.

Historia
There’s a twisted serial killer stalking the streets of New York City, dealing his own perverse version of justice. He kills swiftly and silently, leaving his calling card - a red "J" - on the bodies of his prey. His victims have one thing in common: They’ve all been jurors in the city’s most infamous cases - cases in which the killer was found "not guilty". Overnight, the Justice Killer has the city in a stranglehold. And there’s only one man who has a shot at finding him....

Enjoyed It
Revisado: 10-07-07
I enjoyed this one on a long trip. It was interesting, but not too fast to keep up with while driving. I'm definitely starting to enjoy this author more and more with each book of his I read/listen to.

Narrator Disappointing
Revisado: 10-07-07
This would probably be a good book, but this narrator ruined it for me. You could predict the inflections of her voice to the point of it being a drone. The story line was really good but I couldn't pay attention to the story because the reader was driving me nuts with her voice. She put all her inflection at the end of each sentence and did they all have to end with the word "said" in such a flat monotone? If you want this one, get it in paperback and read it yourself. I've never had to give a bad rating on here, but I think you will be very distracted by the narrator's voice and lack of motivation to enjoy this book.

I always enjoy this series of books and wasn't disappointed here either. It was interesting enough to keep me going with the unabridged version because there were so many details and events. It's one I will keep in my library to listen to again later.

Anything But Sleeping
Revisado: 10-07-07
Would you expect anything but a good book from Deaver? Of course not, and again he did not disappoint. The characters were varied and interesting each on their own. The ending was a pleasant surprise because just when you think you KNOW what is going to happen... well you listen and figure it out.

twisted

Twisted, but in a nice way. It took a minute to catch on to what was happening, but then it was all a good time. The ending was excellent and a complete suprise which is hard to find most of the time.

Historia
Detective Briony Williams is a rookie appointed to an all-male team investigating a bizarre murder at an anatomy college in Bloomsbury. Her superiors constantly make her feel left out. But a killer obsessed with following Jack the Ripper soon changes that. The killer is a practiced anatomist with a theatrical streak. He arranges his victims bodies in cruel parodies of famous satirical engravings by Hogarth. As the summer and the swinging '60s wind to a terrible climax, this multi-layered thriller brings the startling and terrible strands of the story together.

Past VS Present
Revisado: 04-06-06
Most books in this field use either "today" or a setting in the future. This one stepped back in time. I was leery about it when I first realized what it was, but by the end I was caught up and couldn't figure out the killer. The ending was a surprise and that's always a plus when reading a mystery. Part of the challenge is seeing if you can figure out who the real bad guy is before the author tells you. On this one I didn't even come close.

Historia
The "maddog" murderer who is terrorizing the Twin Cities is two things: insane and extremely intelligent. He kills for the pleasure of it and thoroughly enjoys placing elaborate obstacles to keep police befuddled. Each clever move he makes is another point of pride. But when the brilliant Lieutenant Lucas Davenport, a dedicated cop and a serial killer's worst nightmare, is brought in to take up the investigation, the maddog suddenly has an adversary worthy of his genius.

Twisted as Ever
Revisado: 01-22-06
This was an older one I missed and I had to block out a few things in the series that I knew had happened, but that was nothing major.
Once again Davenport is chasing the skirts all over town and catching the bad guys. The thing is he does it with such style you can't help but like it. He gets the bad guy and his sense of justice is a wonderful ending that makes you want to pat him on the back and ask "why doesn't that happen more often" when you see some of the scum making the news these days.

Historia
The cloistered grounds of the convent have traditionally represented a place of faith and peace. Now, that peace is shattered as two nuns are found, one dead, one mortally wounded. The killings appear to be without motive, without an obvious suspect, and are further complicated by the murder and mutilation of a third woman. Together, medical examiner Maura Isles and intense, moody homicide detective Jane Rizzoli uncover an ancient horror that connects these terrible slaughters.

Great Read
Revisado: 01-16-06
Another good one for Tess. I enjoyed all the twists and turns of the plot. She holds Rizzoli to character. No matter what is going on in her personal life she still finds time to get a jab in at even the most innocent seeming villian. No one goes unpunished in some way with her and that's satisfying. Some of her points make you want to say "you go girl".
This is a great book and you can't go wrong with it.
