Historia
For some reason, when it comes to complex issues, we’ve largely limited ourselves to just two options, resulting in a society of non-thinkers. After all, once you’ve picked a side, all the thinking has already been done for you. As an independent, libertarian voter who has spent the last ten years at Fox News, Kat has faced this issue too many times to count. She’s learned that surprising things can happen when you refuse to choose a team, especially when you work at a place some people call an existential threat to America.

I I USED TO LIKE YOU UNTIL… (HOW BINARY THINKING DIVIDES US) Kat Timpf 2024
A well written book, beautifully read by the author & quite encouraging; but I disagree with the premise that all division is, in itself, wrong or not to be desired, while agreeing that many divisions are unnecessary & can be avoided.
Binary thinking is major, important, necessary part of our thought processes & our instincts; we make binary decisions constantly; I agree that in many cases, when binary thinking is not appropriate, it causes unnecessary problems; but she goes too far…
I empathize with her unique appreciation of drag queens , but she is a genuinely beautiful woman without all the fake stuff that FNC seems to add. (One of the things that bothers me about FNC is the degree of phoniness in visual appearance that they find necessary; serious { & comedic } reporters & commentators do not need to look like models; I’d rather hear the real news from real people; ¿how can I trust what they say if the presentation is so phony?)
Transvestism is dishonest, perverse & a mockery of real beauty.
“There are 10 kinds of people, those who understand binary & those who don’t.”
(an old joke)
“Binary thinking divides us.” is true; ¿but are all divisions wrong/evil/to be avoided?
Some issues ARE binary (truth/lies, male/female, good/evil, yes/no, right/wrong, living/dead, on/off;
Sometimes a truth teller is obliged to correct a lie; God made people in His image, male & female; Christ has given us His law, in writing & in our hearts (some actions are clearly good & some are clearly evil.)
I would agree that people are often unnecessarily divided by inappropriate “binary thinking.” But I would insist that a lack of division is not a valid goal. Rather that some divisions are good, or more importantly, real.

Historia
"You are your own, and you belong to yourself." This is the fundamental assumption of modern life. And if we are our own, then it's up to us to forge our own identities and to make our lives significant. But while that may sound empowering, it turns out to be a crushing responsibility - one that never actually delivers on its promise of a free and fulfilled life, but instead leaves us burned out, depressed, anxious, and alone. This phenomenon is mapped out onto the very structures of our society, and helps explain our society's underlying disorder.

Boring, redundant, verbose, long-winded, repetitive, unnecessary. . . . .
Revisado: 02-07-23
You Are Not Your Own by Dr. Alan Noble is an exposition of the answer to the first question of The Heidelberg Catechism .
The Heidelberg Catechism
Q. 1:
What is your only comfort
in life and in death?
A. :
That I am not my own,
but belong—
body and soul,
in life and in death-
to my faithful Savior, Jesus Christ…
A most wonderful & applicable, confessional statement of truth.
Dr. Noble makes every attempt to encourage his reader to apply it .
Unlike The Catechism, (translated into English 400 years ago) he writes in ‘modern’ language; using the perverted, twisted terminology & philosophy of 21st Century America.
Language & choice of words effects our thought. The simplicity & veracity of the biblical reality is weakened by trying to state it in modern language; & the truth gets lost in the excessive verbiage.
Boring, verbose, redundant, long winded, too much projecting of his personal weaknesses, repetitively telling the reader what the author has failed to see; he goes on & on, detailing every insight that he has missed;
The first four chapters are boring; hoping the he will get to the point; he doesn’t, but he does admit that he might seem repetitive…
The Heidelberg Catechism , in simple language, clearly states biblical truth.
Read it; read the scripture references; read the scriptures.
The Heidelberg Catechism
Q & A 1
Q. What is your only comfort
in life and in death?
A. That I am not my own,1
but belong—
body and soul,
in life and in death—2
to my faithful Savior, Jesus Christ.3
He has fully paid for all my sins with his precious blood,4
and has set me free from the tyranny of the devil.5
He also watches over me in such a way6
that not a hair can fall from my head
without the will of my Father in heaven;7
in fact, all things must work together for my salvation.8
Because I belong to him,
Christ, by his Holy Spirit,
assures me of eternal life9
and makes me wholeheartedly willing and ready
from now on to live for him.10

In Killing the Legends, Bill O’Reilly and Martin Dugard explore the lives, legacies, and tragic deaths of three of the most famous people of the 20th century. Each experienced immense success, then failures that forced them to change; each faced the challenge of growing old in fields that privilege youth; and finally, each became isolated, cocooned by wealth but vulnerable to the demands of those in their innermost circles.

Three godless fools, not heroes. . .
Revisado: 10-03-22
3 men who entertained us well; lived “legendary,” immoral, sad, boring, godless, wasted life’s. I suppose that if we look up to losers like this it’s worth pointing out their wickedness & stupidity. An atheist, a pseudo Christian & a Muslim; not heroes; just damned fools. As sad, boring & worthless as they wear, I guess it’s good to know that we need to look elsewhere for heroes.

Great, fast moving, fun read.
Unfortunately, audio version is read by someone else. Well done; good voices, most appropriate enthusiasm, but not Jesse.
Mom Texts are fun. Wonderful to be reminded of Bill o’Riley & The Factor. Really interesting to read about the hard work that excellent journalists (& their helpers) do behind the scenes.
Though Waters appears to be vain, smug, egotistical, name dropping, self-aggrandizing, &c. he freely admits his weaknesses, foolishness, immaturity & tells us how he learns from his mistakes; this is quite refreshing…

Autumn 1944. World War II is nearly over in Europe but is escalating in the Pacific, where American soldiers face an opponent who will go to any length to avoid defeat. The Japanese army follows the samurai code of Bushido, stipulating that surrender is a form of dishonor. Killing the Rising Sun takes listeners to the bloody tropical-island battlefields of Peleliu and Iwo Jima and to the embattled Philippines, where General Douglas MacArthur has made a triumphant return and is plotting a full-scale invasion of Japan.

history/truth told interestingly.
Revisado: 10-11-16
As expected from Bill o'Riley, history/truth told interestingly.
I really like many personal details told about the characters;
very Dickensian, but about real people.
Quite gruesome; as war truly is.
Not recommended reading for the faint-hearted;
nor for those who don't wish to face the realities of battle against a brutal, evil enemy.

Historia
Every one of us will experience suffering. Many of us are experiencing it now. As we have seen in recent years, evil is real in our world, present and close to each one of us. In such difficult times, suffering and evil beg questions about God--Why would an all-good and all-powerful God create a world full of evil and suffering? And then, how can there be a God if suffering and evil exist?

In 2004, after several months as an interrogator, Eric Fair’s call to serve his country has led him to a dark and frightening place. By the time he leaves Iraq after that first deployment, Fair will have participated in or witnessed a variety of aggressive interrogation techniques including sleep deprivation, stress positions, diet manipulation, exposure, and isolation. Years later, with his health and marriage crumbling, haunted by the role he played in what we now know as “enhanced interrogation,” it is Fair’s desire to speak out that becomes a key to his survival.

Sad, desperate story with NO RESOLUTION.
Revisado: 04-07-16
CONSEQUENCE by Eric Fair
is a sad, discouraging tale of a man trying to deal with guilt.
Fair often mentions his Christianity;
but never seems to have an understanding of Christ's willingness & ability to forgive.
He quite openly & explicitly confesses his sins against men: torture, anger, pride, selfishness &c. &c......
He clearly exposes the futility & evil of torture & how it is un-American & ungodly;
how it ruins, not only the lives of those tortured, but ruins the lives of the torturers.
The memoir is really sad because he is still living with guilt;
attempting what he knows is impossible, to resolve/fix/atone for his sin.
A sad, desperate story with NO RESOLUTION......
A "christian" who doesn't seek Christ's glory, mercy, forgiveness & restoration.......
He'd rather remain a godless, selfish, suicidal drunk.......
(Fair uses a lot of coarse, foul language,
as I guess one might expect in war & from one who tortures people for a living.)
