Historia
Fourteen-year-old Greg Dixon is living a nightmare. Attending boarding school outside of Boston, he is separated from his family when a pandemic strikes. His classmates and teachers are dead, rotting in a dormitory-turned-morgue steps from his room. The nights are getting colder, and his food has run out. The last message from his father is to get away from the city and to meet at his grandparents' town in remote New Hampshire.

Enjoyable listen, not so sad
Revisado: 06-26-24
Really enjoyed this story, unlike most apocalyptic stories this one focused on the positive aspects but didn’t dismiss the fact that no matter the situation there are still bad folks out there. Would love to listen to more from this group or those who found the flyers.

Historia
Two months ago, he challenged the Director of the CIA to war, and it’s been radio silence since. Unable to return to the family he loves, he steels himself for the first strike, which D/CIA Jack Raynor delivers in the unlikeliest of forms. Then it’s all-out carnage in dreary Iowa. But in the heat of battle, whispers make their way to Slater’s ears, rumors of an all-powerful puppet master. He hears a moniker, "The Golden One," the name of a faceless serpent who shapes the country from the shadows.

Worth it series
Revisado: 07-03-23
It took a few restarts with book 1 (Weapons) but once I got in it, I couldn’t stop. A happy dad for the ending (no spoilers here!).
Definitely going to start another series, just have to figure out if I stick with King or Slater or another one of Matt Rogers’ characters.

Historia
In this exquisite story of family, food, grief, and endurance, Michelle Zauner proves herself far more than a dazzling singer, songwriter, and guitarist. With humor and heart, she tells of growing up one of the few Asian-American kids at her school in Eugene, Oregon; of struggling with her mother's particular high expectations of her; of a painful adolescence; of treasured months spent in her grandmother's tiny apartment in Seoul, where she and her mother would bond, late at night, over heaping plates of food.

Must read for mixed immigrant kids
Revisado: 12-24-22
My sister recommended that I read this. Per usual she was right. This story pulled at my heartstrings, gave me a platform to speak to my 2nd generation mixed children, & showed me that there are other people who look like me who went through similar events (trying to over please their Korean mom, not feeling Korean enough/Caucasian enough). Thank you Michelle for sharing your story!!

Historia
Gracie Reed is doing just fine. Sure, she was fired by her overly “friendly” boss, and yes, she still hasn’t gotten her mother into the nursing home of their dreams, but she’s healthy, she’s (somewhat) happy, and she’s (mostly) holding it all together. But when a mysterious SUV pulls up beside her, revealing Chinese cinema's golden couple Wei Fangli and Sam Yao, Gracie’s world is turned on its head. The famous actress has a proposition: Due to their uncanny resemblance, Fangli wants Gracie to be her stand-in.

A winner 🎊🍾🎉
Revisado: 04-11-22
It’s has been a while since I truly enjoyed a book and this one hit the mark. I don’t often relate to the main character but I was able to with Gracie. I am half Korean, half-white and have never felt that I have fit in. Listening to how Gracie handled situations that I have been in before (over hearing ignorance , being one of a few females in the work place) doesn’t make me feel quite so alone. And to top it off she finds family and love. Can’t wait for Lily Chu’s next book!

I was unsure at first, but it was worth the listen.
Revisado: 06-16-20
I purchased this off of the previous reviews and at first was quite disappointed. I thought that it was going to be my first audible return in 3 years. I told myself to give it a go (I’ve always finished reading/listening-unless it’s about finance🤷♀️). I finished it and am quite satisfied in the story and added the next book in the series to my wish list.
