Captivating story, disappointing ending
Revisado: 12-28-24
I loved listening to this magical, whimsical, wintry tome! It was entertaining and kept me captivated. However, the ending ruined the story for me. I should have seen it coming, but it felt unsatisfying in the end.

Loved it!
Revisado: 07-11-23
As a new baby therapist, I would highly recommend this book! Lori shares so many beautiful insights, and her vulnerability to share her own interior life makes her writing so personal and relatable.

Honest, Personal, Excellent!
Revisado: 06-29-23
As an existential therapist, I am a huge fan of Yalom’s work. However, I was not expecting the poignancy and personal nature of this recent volume. It was honest and vulnerable in a way that both heightened my respect for Yalom and brought me to contemplate my own life and death.

This type of Mexican American folk magic, which the author calls “American brujeria”, features its own unique saints and spirits as well as familiar ones, such as the infamous Santa Muerte.

Fantastic Book
Revisado: 05-04-23
I learned so much through listening to this book! Something that I appreciated is the author’s discussion about the ethical use of the practices and traditions presented, as well as how to engage in those practices yourself. Would highly recommend!

Miracle and Wonder: Conversations with Paul Simon is part memoir, part investigation, and unlike any creative portrait you’ve ever heard before. Recorded over a series of 30 hours of conversation between Simon, Gladwell, and Gladwell’s oldest friend and co-writer, journalist and Broken Record podcast co-host Bruce Headlam, the conversation flows from Simon’s music, to his childhood in Queens, NY, to his frequent collaborators including Art Garfunkel and the nature of creativity itself.

A sweet balm for a musician’s soul
Revisado: 01-13-23
This was a gorgeous production that not only left me feeling closer to Paul Simon and his music, but also more in touch with myself as a musician.
