This is his story, how he tried and failed many times to break a cycling world record, and the story about his final world record attempt, cycling 4,000 miles across Europe. Sean nearly gave up on his dream after tragically losing two of his ultra cycling friends, but decided to continue in their honor with his quest to chase big miles on two wheels.

I enjoyed this book

I felt like Sean had a unique perspective, and I liked how he mentioned other cyclists. Before I finished, I ordered Mark Beaumont’s book.

Historia
In this eye-opening account, Cal Newport debunks the long-held belief that "follow your passion" is good advice. Not only is the cliché flawed - preexisting passions are rare and have little to do with how most people end up loving their work - but it can also be dangerous, leading to anxiety and chronic job hopping. After making his case against passion, Newport sets out on a quest to discover the reality of how people end up loving what they do.

Compliments Deep Work
Revisado: 03-16-17
After reading Cal Newport's other book, I wondered if I would want to read this book. This book talks about career capital, and it brings a nice counterpoint to the flaws people experience with lifestyle design without providing something of value. At the same time Newport gets Derek Siver's perspective of doing something people are willing to pay for.
There is much more to this book. But it helped me reflect on my own career capital as it relates to maintaining control over how I spend my time.
Great book. I'll likely reread it.

Historia
In Profit First, Mike Michalowicz, author of The Pumpkin Plan and The Toilet Paper Entrepreneur, explains why the GAAP accounting method is contrary to human nature, trapping entrepreneurs in the panic-driven cycle of operating check-to-check and reveals why this new method is the easiest and smartest way to ensure your business becomes wildly (and permanently) profitable from your very next deposit forward.

This book helped me solve problems
Revisado: 03-19-15
What made the experience of listening to Profit First the most enjoyable?
I had listened to the to Michalowicz's book,The Pumpkin Plan, a couple of time before listening to Profit First. While the Pumpkin Plan deals with selling something unique to great clients in a systematized way, Profit First deals more with personal business management.
The author's website has several resources, such as the "Profit First One-Sheet"". This pdf is like a one page action sheet that summarizes the book's recommendations. Without listening to the book, the Profit First One-Sheet looks pretty dry. After listening to the book, it looks pretty exciting because you can see the possibilities offered by using this structured process.
Michalowicz understands issues that small entrepreneurs/business owners face. I got the sense that I have challenges common to many small businesses. Before finishing the book, I had already implemented processes and strategies that immediately saved me money and are making my business more fun.
What other book might you compare Profit First to and why?
The E-myth Revisited was mentioned in this book, and I feel that the two books complement each other.
Any additional comments?
I don't think this is a book for someone who has a comfortable job that they are happy with. It's really written for entrepreneurs.

Historia
In this landmark book of popular science, Daniel E. Lieberman - chair of the department of human evolutionary biology at Harvard University and a leader in the field - gives us a lucid and engaging account of how the human body evolved over millions of years, even as it shows how the increasing disparity between the jumble of adaptations in our Stone Age bodies and advancements in the modern world is occasioning this paradox: greater longevity but increased chronic disease.

Introduced new ideas for me
Revisado: 01-23-15
I had never really considered the idea of mismatched diseases or even that something like poor eyesight could be considered a disease. I learned a lot and have recommended it to friends.
