Historia
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Great Story Similar to Martian in Style
Revisado: 05-25-21
This was the best sci-fi story I've found in a while. Just a really cool premise and super easy to get into. It's like Bobbiverse had a baby with Martian.

What a great story and change.
Revisado: 07-01-20
I'm in a rut of books not capturing my attention. So much that I asked myself if it was me that changed mysteriously after 9 years of Audible or is it really just not finding a good story. Either way, it was a downer. I can't remember why I decided to get this one but very glad I did. It's been a long time since I would alter my behavior to increase listening opps throughout the day. It's been a long time since I would get in bed and listen to audible instead of using a paperback to shut my eyes.
This story is really impressive, reaffirming I might be able to write but never at this level. I love it when stories are really intelligently creative to the point that I know I couldn't have "thunk up" that small detail in a full year if my livelihood depended on it. Really really killer story.

Over 200 Books and This One...
Revisado: 11-05-19
is the best story. I hope one day to find a better one but I doubt it. To me, this story is better than Seven Eves, Mr. Mercedes and all of the Charles Frazier novels. Not by much, but by enough to be able to say it's better. I never thought 13 Moons or Elegance of a Hedgehog would be beat, but hey, that's why we keep reading/listening. The search for a great story. I absolutely can't wait until I can say this one is #2. Now back to my search...

Historia
For years, rumors of the "Marsh Girl" have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand.

I'm a Dude
Revisado: 08-26-19
I caved on the algo's persistence. Sometimes it's "righter" than my snap judgement. I got sick of searching for the warm fuzzies, and not finding it, in the scifi and single-bad-ass cats, I thunk back to discovering Gillian. Man! So I took a stab it this one. I'll put it like this, Gillian is always zero on the Nich Sparkometer, but for me she's eights, nines and tens everywhere else. So if Gillian = -x and N. Sparks = x, Gen, in my opinion, this book is a wee on the Sparks side of zero.
I really liked it. I felt sad when the artist wanted me to and other emotions too. It's nice when that all stays in sync. Pretty pretty story. I wonder if these stories exist in the real world.

It's as big as the Empire State Building, a massive floating fortress at the throbbing heart of a US Navy carrier battle group. Its supersonic aircraft can level entire cities at a stroke. Its surveillance gear can track every target within thousands of square miles - in the air, on the surface, and under the sea. Its crew of 6,000 works night and day to keep this awesome military machine at peak performance. It's a Nimitz-class nuclear carrier, the most powerful weapons system on the planet. Nothing can touch it.

A Refreshing Change
Revisado: 09-19-18
I've read every Rapp, Andreas, Gentry, Shannon and Victor book. I didn't know I was secretly looking for a book written like this one, but I was. It's less about the characters and more about the details and painting a realistic story. I can't help but feel that a lot of these characters are slightly modified versions of real people. Or like the plot line is straight out of a war game.
Very refreshing change.

Scott Brick! Are you serious?
Revisado: 08-11-18
This isn't a book about detectives in the 1930s. I cannot believe anyone making these types of decisions could say, "Yeah. Let's go with Scott."
I hope I can finish the listen. I returned one night before last because it was Scott. Don't get me wrong. I like Scott in the Clive Cussler novels. He's perfect and makes the story so much better but this is Mitch Rapp!

How to Walk Through Life and Leave Things Better
Revisado: 05-23-18
I'm a military/spy/assasin fiction fan but for some strange reason I bought this book a long time ago. Outside of '7 Habits...' and 'How to Win Friend...', I find myself referring to this book most. I'm talking about when thinking about being a better person, when thinking about the government and even politics. If this books grabs you like it grabbed me, you might find that you just walk through life leaving less of a mess behind you. Silly example: Because of this book, when I go to a store with buggies in the parking lot, I always drag one or two of them back to the store on arrival. I very rarely need a buggy for myself but this just makes me feel like a better person. And if everyone did things like that, this world would be better.
Another thing it illustrates is sacrificing for you children. Putting yourself in front of that snake so if someone gets popped, it's not the child.
This is the only fiction book I've ever listened to, twice. I even bought the paperback.
I can say this book changed me.
