The “scum and villainy” a highlight
- De Stefan Filipovits en 11-10-20
Fun but flawed.
Revisado: 12-12-20
Like the first book in this series, From A Certain Point of View offers some very entertaining, sometimes dull, sometimes moving stories happening around the Star Wars films. Out of the forty stories here, a small handful are incredibly moving and provide tension in a story we already know the outcome of. But the majority of the stories, while extremely well written feel inconsequential and therefore pointless by comparison. It’s a fun, brisk read, but not required even if you’re a Star Wars completion-ist like me.

Historia
After devastating losses at the hands of the First Order, General Leia Organa has dispatched her agents across the galaxy in search of allies, sanctuary, and firepower - and her top spy, Vi Moradi, may have just found all three, on a secluded world at the galaxy’s edge. A planet of lush forests, precarious mountains, and towering, petrified trees, Batuu is on the furthest possible frontier of the galactic map, the last settled world before the mysterious expanse of Wild Space.

A Great Expansion to the Black Spire Story
Revisado: 09-08-19
Though there are moments that border on being a commercial for Disney’s Galaxy’s Edge (which this ultimately is), it has some wonderful character work and high stakes drama. Unexpectedly, it also serves as a perfect sequel to Dawson’s other Star Wars novel, PHASMA.

Improves Rogue One’s Story
Revisado: 08-26-18
I went into this book with relatively low expectations and I must say, I loved it. I’m not a huge fan of Rogue One. I think it’s an entertaining movie sorely lacking strong, relatable characters. Rebel Rising provides Jan Erso with all the character development missing from the film. She is a much more sympathetic character and the film is improved by Bth Revis’ wonderful book.
