The author was a GM of a LARP I played in.
She practiced creating wonderful world's for us to play in.
She has brought that experience to this book and has created a full living world filled with magic and intrigue.
Her characters are real with a history. They grow and change as the story unfolds.
Our lead is not a hero upon a pedestal but a human with fears and faults, someone we could have met, known.
A great story in a wonderful world.

Ug!
I managed just over two hours of this and had to give up. Why do so many urban fantasy books have to be written for tween girls? The premiss was good. The reader great. The execution sucked. Think twilight.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
A waste of time.
If you are following a series you hope each book advances the series forward, this one did not. There is just no need for it to exist.
What could SM Reine have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
The rest of the decent series is from the point of Elise, This is from the Point of James. The writer had a winning formula and should have staid with it.
Could you see Defying Fate being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Where does The Fold rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
I did not expect to enjoy this book, I was looking for something different to what I normally listen to. Never read the writer before, now gonna listen to all his books.
What did you like best about this story?
I love it when a geek brings pop culture I to a story but does not force it on you. Peter did it well and even managed to make it a plot point. Another little surprise it a treasure trove of gems.
