This is the 91st book I’ve listened to or read this year and probably number 1 so far. Written succinctly without bogging down in military minutiae, it kept me engrossed even into the afterward. I’m adding the agents of Delta Force to my prayers and Thanksgiving remembrances.
I served in the USAF Medical Corps (doctors) so was never at risk like these people were/are. There were tense moments in this book, and fearful ones, but always with dedication and honor.
Eye-opening.

Well Done

My only complaint is that narrators new to a franchise should listen to the previous narrators or at least confirm pronunciation with the author.
I have no idea how Gastek is spelled as I’ve “read” the entire Kate Daniels series on Audible. I suspect it’s not Gostek as pronounced in this book.
Ilona Andrews is consistently excellent and this is no exception. I’ll continue the new series, only quietly yelling the “correct” pronunciation in my head.

Another brilliant book and performance. The author sounds like Andy from Toy Story (Tom Hanks), the book grabs you pretty quickly, and the tension just builds and builds. I hope they make a movie of it.

I wish I'd listened to the sample of Lachlan before I bought this title. I'd listened to The Gathering and liked it very much. The second book has a narrator that NEVER changes his inflection. The sing-song pattern is irritating. May not finish.

Clever and dark

Except for an irksome mispronunciation of Caitriona (“Katrina” for most Irish), the narration is as good as she always is. The story is convoluted and I had some difficulty following but I was driving in traffic at the time. Faith Hunter consistently delivers engaging stories, characters, and unusual situations. Hopefully we’re not done with Soulwood.

Droll witty Victorian Steam Punk!

Where does Timeless rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This is the start of a delightful series that has become one of my favorites. The main character has such dry wit that you immediately love her. The take on vampires and werewolves is unique (which is hard to do these days). The narrator was wonderful! I immediately got all 5 books and listened to them straight. Can't wait for more from this author.

What did you like best about Spider's Bite? What did you like least?

I had the hardest time listening to the hard "g's" by the narrator. e.g. wrongah (wrong), longah (long), he was strongah. (is her last name Fortanga?) I didn't mind the quasi-southern accent. I even liked the interesting timbre of her voice. I just hated the hard g's. I live in the South and no one pronounces g's like that.
I wish Gin would have used her power more, practiced it, etc, instead of just ignoring it.
I listened to the end because the story was pretty good, despite some of the oddities.

Would you be willing to try another one of Lauren Fortgang’s performances?

A bit disappointing both in performance and story

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Rachel appeared to lose focus and ability, letting mere humans kick her butt, and not paying attention to the advice of her friends. A lot of the writing was rehashing and reiterating (space fill?). Still, I love Rachel, Ivy, Jenks, David, etc, and will buy all the series as they come out and anxiously await the next. Maybe Rachel will grow up soon.

What aspect of Marguerite Gavin???s performance would you have changed?

I'm a big fan of Ms. Gavin but she seemed to not pay attention to where the phrase should end and starting slurring half to 2/3 the way through. It appeared that she'd read a sentence and then stop at the end of the line, even though the sentence didn't end for another 3-4 words. Still, I can't stand anyone other than Ms. Gavin to voice Jenks or Ivy.

Do you think A Perfect Blood needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

There has to be more because not much happened here.

The best of the series (through #10)

This is the best of the series so far. The narrator stays true to the characters and by inflection, differentiates between them. Yes, she has a contrived Southern accent but it's good. This is also all about Eric, and if you're a true fan, you are also all about Eric. Character developement is pretty good in this one and the rest of the series pivots on this book. Don't miss it.
