As a middle-aged man, I’ll admit Come As You Are by Emily Nagoski wasn’t written with me as it's primary audience, but that’s exactly why it’s so transformative. This book isn’t just about the science of sex; it’s about understanding people, deeply, compassionately, and without judgment.

Nagoski’s insights into desire, stress, and the brain’s role in intimacy don’t just apply to one gender or relationship dynamic. They reveal universal truths about how humans connect, struggle, and thrive. Whether you’re reading it for personal growth, to support a partner, or simply to become a more empathetic person, this book is a game-changer.

I walked away with more than just knowledge—I gained a new lens through which to see the people in my life. If more of us read Come As You Are, the world would be a kinder, more understanding place. Do yourself (and everyone around you) a favor, read this book, then encourage others to as well.

As a nurse who has witnessed firsthand the devastating effects of global pandemic and health inequity, I cannot recommend John Green’s Everything is Tuberculosis enough. This book is not just a compelling read, it’s a vital call for justice, empathy, and systemic change. With his signature wit and deep humanity, Green exposes the absurdity and cruelty of a world where diseases like Tuberculosis that are curable, preventable, and yet still deadly, continue to ravage marginalized communities while the privileged remain largely unaffected.

Green’s research is impeccable, weaving together history, science, and personal narrative to illustrate how TB is not just a medical issue but a moral one. He forces readers to confront uncomfortable truths: that poverty, racism, and colonialism are the real vectors of this disease, and that our collective indifference perpetuates suffering. As a nurse, I’ve seen patients dismissed, underserved, and left to suffer because of where they were born or how much money they had. Green articulates this injustice with a clarity that is both heartbreaking and galvanizing.

But what makes this book truly extraordinary is its hope. Green doesn’t just diagnose the problem, he offers pathways to change, reminding us that solutions exist if we have the courage to demand them. His call for global solidarity, equitable healthcare, and political will resonates deeply with those of us on the frontlines.

Everything is Tuberculosis is more than a book, it’s a rallying cry. For anyone who believes in a fairer, healthier world, this is essential reading. Thank you, John Green, for using your platform to amplify voices too often ignored and for inspiring action where it’s desperately needed. Five stars: read it, share it, act on it.

Just an excellent book and excellent performance. Short, to the point, and a beautiful introduction to a wonderful character from the main series. I don't think this team is capable of anything less than excellence.

Mark Lawrence’s Holy Sister is not just the conclusion to the Book of the Ancestor trilogy, it is a soul-stirring crescendo that cements this series as an all-time great in fantasy literature. From its opening pages to its breathtaking finale, Holy Sister delivers on every promise, wrapping threads of prophecy, vengeance, and redemption into a narrative so powerful it leaves you breathless, tearful, and utterly spellbound.

Nona’s journey reaches its zenith here, and what a journey it is! Lawrence’s warrior-nun protagonist is a force of nature: fierce, flawed, and ferociously human. The final stand is not just a battle; it’s a symphony of courage that echoes long after the last page.

Holy Sister is relentless. Split between past and present, the story races toward a convergence that feels both inevitable and astonishing. Political intrigue, ancient grudges, and apocalyptic threats collide in a storm of revelations and reversals. Lawrence’s pacing is flawless, balancing quiet, character-driven moments with cataclysmic set pieces that redefine epic. This isn’t just a conclusion. It’s a coronation.

Read this series. Devour it. Let it break you, then remake you. And when you finish, start the trilogy again, because stories this magnificent deserve to be lived, not just read. Holy Sister isn’t just a recommendation; it’s a necessity for anyone who believes in the transformative power of fantasy.

Grey Sister is a tour de force of storytelling, blending heart-stopping action, profound emotional depth, and a world so richly imagined it feels alive. From the very first page, Lawrence weaves a tapestry of intrigue, courage, and magic that will leave readers breathless, awestruck, and utterly addicted.

The characterization and growth is nothing short of extraordinary. Lawrence crafts her growth with such precision and tenderness that you’ll feel every triumph, every heartache, and every agony.

The world, with its dying sun and ice-locked realms, is a marvel of imagination. Lawrence’s prose is both lyrical and visceral, painting vivid scenes of frozen wastes, ancient mysteries, and the sacred brutality of the convent’s training halls. The magic system—rooted in blood, faith, and the arcane—is ingeniously crafted, blending martial artistry with mystical forces in ways that feel fresh and thrilling. Every detail, from the politics of the Church to the whispers of the Missing, is meticulously layered, creating a universe that’s as immersive as it is awe-inspiring.

The story is a masterclass in pacing. Lawrence balances quiet, introspective moments with explosive set pieces that will have your pulse racing. The stakes are sky-high: political machinations, vengeful foes, and the looming threat of war collide in a crescendo of tension. Twists abound, but never feel contrived—each revelation is earned, each battle a testament to the characters’ grit and humanity.

Beneath the surface, this is a story about belonging, resilience, and the power of found family. It’s about the smallest acts of defiance can shake empires. Lawrence doesn’t shy away from moral complexity, exploring loyalty, sacrifice, and the cost of power with a nuance that lingers long after the last page.

For lovers of epic fantasy, Grey Sister is everything you crave and more. It’s Mistborn meets His Dark Materials, yet wholly original—a story that crackles with wit, wisdom, and wonder. Mark Lawrence has outdone himself.

This series is a profound reminder of why we fall in love with stories. Mark Lawrence isn’t just a writer—he’s a sorcerer, and this book is his finest spell. Prepare to be enchanted. An undisputed 5 out of 5 stars—and every one of them earned in blood, fire, and pain.

Not what I was expecting. People act like these books are trash and full of blatant misogyny, and while there are certainly misogynistic elements, and explicity slave women and females who are valued only for the price they are worth, it come across as more old fashioned and cheesecake than actual gender based hate on the part of the author. Think Conan, not Lolita. Admittedly this is the only book of the series I've read, but I found it far less offensive than other fantasy fare like the Dragon riders of Pern.

I’m definitely not the primary demographic for this book. I’m a middle-aged man in Texas who picked it up on a whim because my wife fell in love with it. And then, to my surprise, I fell in love with it too.

Ali Hazelwood’s Deep End is a delightful, heartwarming, and unexpectedly relatable story that transcends its genre. While it’s easy to categorize it as a romance novel, it’s so much more than that. Hazelwood’s signature blend of humor, wit, and emotional depth shines through, making it impossible to put down.

The characters are vividly drawn and feel like real people—flawed, funny, and deeply human. The protagonist’s journey is both empowering and endearing, and the romantic tension is perfectly balanced with moments of introspection and growth. What really stood out to me was how the book tackled themes of self-discovery, resilience, and the importance of embracing vulnerability. It’s a story that resonates regardless of gender or age.

As someone who doesn’t typically gravitate toward romance novels, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed *Deep End*. It’s a testament to Hazelwood’s skill as a storyteller that she can craft a narrative that feels both escapist and deeply grounded in real emotions.

If you’re hesitant to pick up a romance novel, I’d encourage you to give this one a chance. It’s a heartfelt, funny, and ultimately uplifting read that might just win you over, as it did for me.

Entertaining story. Well read and fun. Feels a bit like an adolescent power fantasy though. The main character spends just a bit too much time bragging about the 15 to 17 year Olds that he sleeps with.

Overall a quick, light, popcorn read, but I'm not sure it was enough to push me to keep going through a long series.
