Listened back to back with Book I, Ambush

Like I said in my previous review of Ambush (Book 1), it's narrated by R.C. Bray, so there is already reason to listen to it.
Continues the story line to a reasonably satisfying (if not predictable, tho no spoilers as it depends on your perspective of what is predictable ) ending.

Well first off it's R.C. Bray narrating it, so you know the characterizations will be believable,
Good story with certain "historical" tie-ins, although I couldn't help think of the bad-guys as being like the ones portrayed in the movie "Galaxy Quest" (not to detract).

I really really Want to like this.....but.....

Come on, its an ExFor story, written by Craig Alanson, it features The Awesomeness that is Skippy and Colonel Joe Bishop, it's voiced by R.C. Bray, it includes Zachary Quinto And Kate Mulgrew, it has a sizeable cast, it has professional production.....
It should be good right??
It's ok.....but it seemed to just miss the mark, and for no single persons performance, creative ability, production value, it was just meh..... cheesey...
I hate to say it, but ExFor is starting to have the same formula as that execrable TV series from the 80's "The A Team" where they get into huge scrapes, have explosions, big orange roiling explosions, at least one car/truck/boat goes tail over tip...but no one ever gets killed (I watched very few and usually the ending while waiting for the next TV programme to come on, I hated it even then).
Ok, so who do you want to see chopped, Joe? Skippy? Colonel Smythe? Gunny Adams? Nagatha? All of the Kristang??
No, no, no...none of them OBViously (D'Uh!!).... but very few characters (other than uncounted extra's) do get the chop.
But then the whole story was told from the perspective of Skippy The Magnificent (just, please, less of the singing) so maybe I'm missing the point and it was Supposed to be That Cheesey?
Also; Too much giggling, too much forced laughter, and too many times using the phrase "Monkeys kick ass".
Some of the voice acting was washed out by sound effects.
Hopefully.....this is still Canon and we're not going to have a shower scene....No not That sort of Shower scene !!!
Looking forward to the next ExFor.
