This book was absolutely amazing. I loved hearing about her mother, Marlene Dietrich; however, Madame Riva’s life story is the real story here and I walked away from this book feeling a bit gutted as it resembled my own childhood on some levels. Having a self-absorbed, narcissistic mother who, while she did many great things, really hurt the people closest to her in her wake and Madame Riva never had her own childhood. I applaud her courage for speaking her truth and sharing her story!

I’m a big fan of Bill Maher. I’ve seen him live seven times and he never disappoints. I also watch Real Time with Bill Maher weekly. Call me biased, but this book was simply sublime. It made me laugh. It made me smile. It made me think about things. It is high-brow humor at its best.

I agree with my fellow reviewers: John Douglas and Johnny Dodd do not deserve this narrator. Jason Klav needs to go to Quan-tikko, never to return!
