Emily writes dang good drama and angst
Revisado: 04-21-25
I had mixed feelings about this book. On one hand, I loved the fiery passion-filled relationship that Eli and Becca had. They both are strong personalities, and it's always fun to have a good enemies to lovers transition. I think were it faltered for me was their relationships with other people - specifically Alina. They both failed her so spectacularly, and I don't really feel like either of them really atoned for that. Becca lied over and over again about her involvement with Eli when she should have just come clean. Eli abandoned Alina to deal with their father on her own - even when she begged him to help her. They were busy living their own lives, getting together and hiding it from everyone, fully absorbed in their own lives. I'm not saying that they don't have their own baggage. They do. Their lives are far from perfect, but I just felt like they really failed Alina in a time where she needed them the most. It's hard to be on their side 100% when that's the price for it.
That being said, I still mostly liked the story. Like I said, Becca and Eli have an addicting kind of love, and I really did enjoy their dynamic together. Emily writes damn good drama and angst, and I'm always game for diving into a story she's created.

Immediately she falls, loving him before she even knows what loving is. But becoming best friends with Chase’s little sister means that he’s off-limits, no matter how much their connection screams for something more.

Heartbreaking and Beautiful
Revisado: 04-16-25
Chase and Alina's story is a tough one. They fall in love at a very young age and before they really know themselves or how to navigate the curve balls that life has thrown their way. Chase breaks Alina's heart at the worst possible time, and my heart broke along with hers. There's so much of this story that is relatable to me, and that makes me both love it and hate it. It's beautiful how things come together in the end, but there are still some things left unfinished. I trust Miss Emily, and I know this is an ongoing story. I know we'll get a resolution somewhere in the rest of this series. :)

Historia
A sexy, small town, grumpy sunshine, single dad, sports romance from USA Today Bestselling Author Willow Aster. I fell in love with his little girl first. From the moment nine-year-old Becca Fox and I hugged, it was like we’d known each other forever. Precocious, sweet, and kind, I just knew this little girl was exceptional. Her dad, though? Not so much. Bowie Fox checks every box in the looks department—rugged, intense, and the kind of man who makes you forget how to breathe—but his personality? About as warm as a snowstorm.

Great addition to an awesome single dad series!
Revisado: 04-16-25
This is the fourth book in the Single Dad Playbook Series, and I just love everything about this series and these characters. While, I don't think you necessarily have to read any of the previous books, it does help to know who is who and their backgrounds. All the characters make an appearance in each book, and it helps to know their individual stories, but I think you can enjoy this one one its own. JF Harding, Samantha Brentmoor, and Lily D Moore do an amazing job of bringing all of the characters to life, and I love the passion behind everything.
Poppy and Bowie are such an unlikely couple. Bowie is completely uninterested in any kind of romantic attachment. His sole focus is his daughter, Becca, and making sure that she has everything she could possibly need since her mother abandoned her as a baby. Bowie's heart was broken when her mother left, and he's never quite gotten over it. Poppy is a bright and vivacious character who works with kids who have special needs, and she connects with Becca immediately. It's jarring to Bowie, and although he tries to stay away, there's always something that brings him right back to Poppy.
I liked that Bowie and Poppy's relationship was bumpy because it's real. People are complicated and hurt people, hurt people - even when they don't mean to. It's hard to open yourself up to love again, and Bowie really kept himself distant from that for so long. When he finally opens up, his whole world starts to bloom, and it really is a beautiful thing to see. I love the guys and their kinship. Their found family is so loving and supportive, and I love seeing men sharing their emotions and supporting each other.
This book was such a great addition to the series. I'm excited to see where Penn's story will go.

Then he had the nerve to ask for my help to recover the stolen Royal Heart, a Winston Isles Crown Jewel, from the underground Black Rose Auction.

High stakes heist?? Yes please. 😏
Revisado: 03-09-25
I loved the premise of the book from the get go. High stakes heist?? Yes please. 😏 I think the narrators did a greats job of bringing it to life. Sebastian York is one of my favorite narrators so I was excited to get a chance to review this.
I loved the banter between the MCs. It was funny and you could feel the tension between them from the beginning. Their first kiss was electric, and I knew right away that it wouldn’t be long before these two hit the sheets. When they did it was hottttt. With ALL the ts lol
I haven’t read any other books in this series, but I didn’t feel like that effected my reading experience at all. This was a good stand alone. It was my first read from this author, and I’d definitely check out her other work!

I lived my life surrounded by luxuries, love, and attention. While at the mercy of lies, death, and deceit. I was tired of being just a pretty face. The woman who always had to prove her worth. When tragedy tears yet another gash in my heart, he was there to help mend my grief. But there was a mystery hidden behind those alluring diamond eyes. A whisper of ghosts and trauma from his past. Red flags I knew I shouldn’t ignore. Yet I couldn’t help the feelings blossoming within me or the fire that scorched my skin under his touch.

Historia
Kalia Salam is a Voyant, or a person with the ability to create mind-altering visions and project them into others. But when the punishment for having that ability is death, every decision becomes a strategic calculation to avoid execution. Unfortunately, that includes tethering herself to the continent's most wealthy brothel owner and only using her magic to pad the madam's pockets. That is, at least, until she needs it to protect those around her.

A True Enemies to Lovers Adventure
Revisado: 02-14-25
Rahmi and Kalia were TRUE enemies to lovers. I lost track of the amount of times that Kalia tried to kill him, and I loved her fiery spitball personality. She took absolutely zero crap from anyone and was completely unapologetic about it. The banter was top notch. I loved it. I was literally laughing out loud while listening to the book.
The narrator, Broghanne Jessamine does a fantastic job pulling you into the story and getting you to love the characters. I fully enjoyed listening to the book even as a a second read for me. It's a brilliant mix of pirates and magic and gives you all the Disney vibes with a much more adult storyline.

Revisado: 01-31-25
I have seen this book all over social media for the last few months, and my bookclub picked this book for the month of January so I finally decided to read it. Oh. My. God. This book was SO good. So well written. SO well narrated. It's very long, but I loved every minute of it. It's unique and interesting, and who doesn't love a fae shadow daddy??? The banter. The fiery enemies to lovers dynamic was so good and created so much tension. I absolutely ate it up. I cannot wait for book 2!

Historia
I fell in love with Rhodes Archer the night we met thirteen years ago. We made a pact that night to never cross the just-friends zone. However, Rhodes crossed that line by kissing me recently, and I can’t get over it. I’ve loved him, ached for him, craved him for years, but I've never wanted to ruin what we have. And now, when I’m a cheerleader for the Colorado Mustangs and he’s their superstar tight end, we’re not even supposed to be in the same room, let alone be together.

This is by far my favorite book in this series!
Revisado: 01-17-25
This is by far my favorite book in this series so far. I LOVED Rhodes and Elle together. Everything about them screamed "meant to be" from the very beginning. I loved that they were so close and sweet with each other. I always wished I had a best guy friend like that. This is the ultimate best friends to lovers fantasy, and I just fell in love with both of them.
The chemistry between them is there from the very beginning. When they first meet, you can feel the attraction, and I almost thought this was going to be a situation where they hook up and then decide to be friends. Instead, they decide from the beginning to be best friends, and end up spending years pining for each other thinking that the other didn't feel the same way. This felt like more genuine love to me because they grew to truly care about and love each other. I really appreciated that aspect of the story.
I really loved this book, and I'm very interested to see where the next book will take us.
