Historia
When a Western star is gunned down at a rodeo, Ellery Queen saddles up to solve the mystery.
Buck Horne has roped thousands of cattle, slugged his way out of dozens of saloons, and shot plenty of men dead in the street - but always on the back lot. He's a celluloid cowboy, and his career is nearly kaput. The real box-office draw is his daughter, Kit, a brawling beauty who can out shoot any rascal the studio has to offer. Desperate for a comeback, Buck joins Wild Bill Grant's traveling rodeo for a show in New York, hoping to land one last movie contract.

listen to previous books before you record
Revisado: 01-25-21
we listen to many books. in a series the initial readers set the tone for the characters. this reader changed the ethnisity of the inspector to a burlesque Irish man. changed the ponunciation of the sgt. velly. jarring and a very poor job. dont use him again.

His ship, the Mobius, is home to a ragtag crew of misfits and refugees looking to score a big payday but more often just scratching to pay for fuel. confusing covers
Revisado: 05-20-18
Interesting story and good narration. But listening to the books gets confusing to listen in the correct order. would really help to have some notation on the illustrations of the number from 1 to 8.

Reader needs to learn how to pronounce place names
Revisado: 03-22-18
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
NO, too long and mispronunciations are jarring
Would you be willing to try another book from John Connolly? Why or why not?
Already did, The book of lost things and the three Samuel Johnson books. Writes well, but every dead has way too much introspection and side notes. So many you lose the flow of the story.
What didn’t you like about Jeff Harding’s performance?
Inability to correctly pronounce New Orleans place names such as Lake Pontchartrain and Metairie and boats such as pirogue. Those of us who live in NOLA and or visit there often will find these errors very distracting.
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
no. Too long a story with too little content.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
too predictable
How did the narrator detract from the book?
Poor on voices. Little true emotion, too dramatic
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
disappointment
Any additional comments?
Rick Gualtieris Bill books were great. Good story line with humor and people you learned to like. This one was pathetic.

Historia
The game's afoot once more as the long-suffering Dr. John Watson and a partially decomposed Warlock Holmes (though he's getting better) face off against Moriarty's gang, the Pinkertons, flesh-eating horses, a parliament of imps, boredom, Surrey, a succubus, an overly Canadian aristocrat, a tricycle fight to the death, and the dreaded Pumpcrow. Oh, and a hellhound, one assumes.

the severe decline in story content in this one versus the first of the series.
Would you listen to another book narrated by Robert Garson?
Maybe
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
disappointment
Any additional comments?
The first one was great, the second got all bogged down in too much magic and not enough story.
