Historia
In 1968 two young Vietnamese sisters flee to Saigon after their village on the Mekong River is attacked by American forces and burned to the ground. The only survivors of the brutal massacre that killed their family, the sisters struggle to survive but become estranged, separated by sharply different choices and ideologies. Mai ekes out a living as a GI bar girl, but Tam’s anger festers, and she heads into jungle terrain to fight with the Viet Cong. For nearly 10 years, neither sister knows if the other is alive. Do they both survive the war?

Historia
In July 1913, 25-year-old Annie Clements had seen enough of the world to know that it was unfair. She’s spent her whole life in the copper-mining town of Calumet, Michigan, where men risk their lives for meager salaries - and had barely enough to put food on the table and clothes on their backs. The women labor in the houses of the elite and send their husbands and sons deep underground each day. When Annie decides to stand up for herself and the entire town of Calumet, nearly everyone believes she may have taken on more than she is prepared to handle.

So Moving!

This is incredibly well written and researched. It is also beautifully read. I found it gripping and hard to put down.

Beautiful Imagery Poor Performance
Revisado: 07-15-20
The reader of this story truly has the voice of Kaa from The Jungle Book. I was glad I listened to it in the morning instead of at bedtime. The story itself was okay. The imagery was gorgeous, but the story line was a bit farfetched, even when relying on willful suspension of disbelief. There was no struggle at all. The main character didn't have any downfalls or challenges. This made it truly hard to help celebrate her successes.
