This collection is amazing. The depth, the imagery, the pace… these stories grab you from beginning to end. Actually, you will regret they come to an end.
The narrators make the words become real and concrete, the Italian prononciation is also fine. A Must Read Book.

Amazing book it grabs you tightly and never really leaves you. Not even after the bit ter sweet ending. I’ve read it years ago and loved it like no other book, but listening to it was a wholly different experience which made it magic. A MUST READ book. The book was so mesmerizing I forgot the narrator … so I guess he was pretty good at it … isn’t this, finally, the goal of every narrator ? Giving voice to the book itself and disappear in this task?

The book is amazing, very well written and organized. It’s only flaw, the constant translation of measurements, meters into feet and inches, pounds into kilos and stones etc.
The narrator was almost unbearable: the drawl in her accent, her terrible French prononciation, it was truly painful to listen to her. If it were not for the book itself, I would have returned it after barely an hour of listening. I will never buy a book read by this narrator.

This is not my first Picoult's book, and I usually enjoy her writing. However, even though the story was not bad in itself, with twists and surprises along the way, the characters were poorly developed and most of all, the information about the wolves are fictional and misleading. International wolf researcher David Mech has rightfully criticized this book for this aspect. I wish Picoult's had done some research before writing her book.

What made the experience of listening to 13,760 Feet the most enjoyable?

Absolutely everything: the story itself, the lyrics, the performance of the author and of the other characters. The emotional strength and the depth of the author's story at a professional and human level. He truly is an amazing pilot and man and he has succeeded in transforming his grief in a blessing for his readers.

What did you like best about this story?

I am an air traffic controller and, of course, I enjoyed the book because it took me "airborne" every time I listened to it. I was mostly admirative of the author's resilience, which was evident in every page.
I was amazed by the lyrics, that made the entire book alive, I truly never experienced such a wonderful way of telling a story. I was completely drawn into it and found it hard to put down. I really had the impression that he was there, right there in front of me, telling me his story. Once, I as so engrossed in listening that I even missed my train! :-)

What does Mark L. Berry bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I would not have experienced an amazing witness of strength and love for life and desire to continue to give a meaning to one's life. I think he really set an example of how we can get over our griefs and orient our lives and be happy in them in spite of all the hardship. At the beginning of his book, Mark Berry says he was not as tough as his father was and would have wanted him to be. But I think his father can be nothing else than VERY proud of him. He is someone I can look up to too, even if I have only "met" him through the pages of his book.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Absolutely. But I would want to listen to it more than once. I am at my second listening, and I feel as if I discovered an even greater depth. I even took the courage to contact the author through his website, and he answered my message and we proved himself to be a charming man.

Any additional comments?

I really recommend this book to everyone. I also invite everyone to go to his website and listen to the songs, that are precious and meaningful and truly brilliant. To him, I can only say "thank you" for having shared his experience so openly and frankly.

I already knew some of the stories but I enjoyed them nevertheless, and yes, some of them have teeth. One regret only: the last story is devastatingly sad.
