Historia
Civil war looms in the Bobiverse in this brand-new, epic-length adventure by Audible number one best seller Dennis E. Taylor. More than a hundred years ago, Bender set out for the stars and was never heard from again. There has been no trace of him despite numerous searches by his clone-mates. Now Bob is determined to organize an expedition to learn Bender’s fate - whatever the cost. But nothing is ever simple in the Bobiverse. Bob’s descendants are out to the 24th generation now, and replicative drift has produced individuals who can barely be considered Bobs anymore.

Another Bobiverse book?
Revisado: 08-22-21
So, the appetite for more Bobiverse books is huge - I'm dying for more of these. This is not the best of the 4, in fact, I'd classify it as #4 of 4, but it's still good. Kind of a "Bob and the Deltans" focus, but still very entertaining and enjoyable.
There are so many variations and direction Taylor could go with this; I really hope he continues it. He has a good writing style and the nerd-references are amazing. Great humor, fun twists, great science. If you loved the Bobiverse, don't get your hopes up, because this ain't it.; But it's still good. And it's worthy of the series.

Historia
Jazz Bashara is a criminal. Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent. Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down.

Decent, but not great
Revisado: 08-22-21
I suppose it's a real challenge for an author to write an amazing book like The Martian, then try to follow it with anything else. No, this is not The Martian, but it's not bad either. A little thin in the storyline, and it's a shorter story, but it's fairly good. Definitely more adult than The Martian. Rosario Dawson was amazing; I would listen to more of her work based on this performance. Bottom line, you won't be thrilled with this, but you won't be disappointed either. It's just ok.

This daemon reads news headlines, recruits human followers, and orders assassinations. With Sobol’s secrets buried with him, and as new layers of his daemon are unleashed, it’s up to Detective Peter Sebeck to stop a self-replicating virtual killer before it achieves its ultimate purpose - one that goes far beyond anything Sebeck could have imagined.

Sexually Explicit Content
Revisado: 08-22-21
Audible really needs to warn customers when a book contains sexually explicit content. This book went from reasonably PG-13 to X-rated by the 4th chapter. Particularly distasteful when the scene is depicting a sexual predator grooming a victim, raping her, then giving us gory details about bodily fluids. Maybe some listeners are ok with that, and I'm no prude, but I would really appreciate knowing that before I buy it. It felt like I was watching a murder mystery and suddenly got redirected to Porn hub. Too bad. Seemed like an interesting setup, but I'll never know if this gratuitous sex scene had anything to do with the story, or if it was just a way for the author to get his smut on. This book will be returned.

Not a fan of the dramatization
Revisado: 06-15-20
Story was ok, but I didn't like the dramatization. Hearing all the grunts and yells of a battle with no visualization just made a jumbled mess that was hard to follow. Many other such examples. Not all the voice actors were nearly as good as RC Brey. Kind of a jumbled mess.

Really like it - Short, though
Revisado: 09-16-19
Loved the premise. Great story, and funny moments. Fun book to read/listen to. Performance was awesome too. Only real beef was that it was kind of short and the plot was a little shallow; it could have been so much better with a more indept plot. But it's fun and a great find!

Historia
When an experiment to study quantum uncertainty goes spectacularly wrong, physics student Bill Rustad and his friends find that they have accidentally created an inter-dimensional portal. They connect to Outland - an alternate Earth with identical geology, but where humans never evolved. The group races to establish control of the portal before the government, the military, or evildoers can take it away. Then everything changes when the Yellowstone supervolcano erupts in an explosion large enough to destroy civilization and kill half the planet.

Is it a Bobiverse quality book?
Revisado: 07-17-19
Ok - first to the question you are asking, is it up to Bobiverse standards? Unfortunately, no. But don't despair – that’s not saying it's bad! It is actually a very good book! I almost took a star away, but then, I thought…really? Just because it’s not up to the Bobiverse level it deserves a star taken away? The answer is – no. What needs to happen is they need to append a few stars for the Bobiverse books. They are so much better, they deserve EXTRA stars!
So, this book. It deals with a couple of well-canvased theories. The multi-dimensional idea, as well as the Yellowstone erupts idea. But it does a good job of joining the two into an interesting concept and story line. It is full of the familiar traits you liked in the Bobiverse; nerdy sciencey stuff, great Dennis E. Taylor humor through it all, interesting plot lines, bad-guy-gets-his kind of stuff. In that regards, if you liked the Bobiverse, you’ll like this one.
If I were to throw some shade, I would say that in this book, Mr. Taylor throws in a LOT more with his off-language rants. There were the occasional f-bomb or foul tirade in the Bobiverse books, but they were always seeming well founded in the story line. In this book, he seems to have decided to kick that up a notch. Unfortunate, really. I loved the fact I could play my Bobiverse books to my kids and only occasionally cringe when the foul language cropped up. This book has a steady diet of it; so much I doubt I’ll recommend my kids read/listen to it.
Also, kind of short. Obvious open plots for future books as well. Given that, I think Mr. Taylor is trying to cash in a *little* too much.
Beyond that, this book is fun, funny, interesting, loaded with science “what-ifs”, and the kind of apocalyptic traits you’ve come to enjoy in post-apocalypse stories. Or apocalypse in-progress stories, I guess, in this case. Not to mention the kind of nerd/science stuff that inspire a cult following; like the Bobiverse books do/did.

Good, but not quite Bobiverse Good
Revisado: 08-08-18
So, I saw a new book by Dennis E. Taylor, narrated by Ray Porter, and thought, “Awesome! Another Bobiverse quality book!” Yeah, not so much.
On a scale of 1 to 10, with Bobiverse as a 10, this is about a 5…-ish. Definitely missing the hooks and excitement that the Bobiverse gave. If you take this book as standard science fiction, you’ll enjoy it. If you are hoping for a Bobiverse level book, you’ll be disappointed.
Not to say it wasn’t good. Interesting premise and very well developed plot. Uses the Taylor-esque humor and nerd-isms we have come to love. Nice plot twists and complex flow that's easy to follow and fun to discover, but the suspense wasn’t there and the ending kind of fell flat.
Also, I have to put this in; I am not a big fan of the social-agenda plugs in books. Taylor throws one in there toward the end, and it is awkward, out of place, completely non-germane to anything in the plot, and is shameless. If you’ve read it, you know what I’m talking about. I can live with the non-religiousness of the characters because that is common amongst science-types and is a real theory. Not all believe that, but it’s ok. Also, the global warming bits are a viable theory, weather you buy into it or not, so it’s fair game. But this social agenda bit was borderline nauseating in its obviousness at a plug for political correctness. Advice to Mr. Taylor; stick to science fiction. If we want to be preached to for political correctness, we’ll read a newspaper.

There had to be a 'worst' of the 3
Revisado: 06-19-18
Obviously, there had to be one book that was the worst of the series. This one was it. Maybe it was that the first 2 books built up to the climax so much that it would have been impossible to meet the expectations. The final battle does seem so much like it was anti-climactic.
I felt a bit betrayed at the collapse of one of the main heroes of the book (spoiler alert). Neal was built up as such the hero of earth, but then he goes too far in his mania to win the war that he loses his humanity. Still, it brings an obvious point – how far is too far? When do you cross the line?
I also thought the book strayed too far from the basic formula that made the first two books so good. At points in this book, I forgot that the main characters from the other books even existed; they went so long without even mentioning them. Things got twisted in some cloak-and-dagger stuff that, honestly, the book could have lived without. It seemed to get confused and wander and then stumble back into some semblance of an ending.
For ‘last book in the series’, this book fell pretty flat for doing a good job of summing up a great story. For such a great first two, I’m afraid that book 3 was a swing-and-a-miss for summing up this story and bringing it to a satisfying end. Even the very end left you hanging…does she get found or not?
While I still recommend it, don’t get your hopes up that it’s as good as the first two.

Best of the series
Revisado: 06-19-18
This book was an amazing follow up to a great start. Exciting for almost the entire book, this had so many great twists and turns as Earth struggles with a new reality. Great character devleopment and growth and the book focuses on what you want - a great story about some amazing situations for a global struggle to prepare.
One of the neatest parts was the development of the agents and the lead scientist/leader, Neal. Forced to lead and to progress humanity to defend itself against the coming armada, Neal becomes the leader the earth needs to push it to where it needs to be to defend itself.
I felt like this was the best book of the series. Book 1 was absolutely needed to set up this awesome follow-on to the story. I a great deal and was really excited to get to Book 3.
