I wanted to Love it but...

I wanted to love the book but barely liked it. I won't say it's a waste, but there are so many better options. I loved the reader's voice. It was so soothing, but the content seemed like a condensed version of most other books on the subject... and had I been looking for that, I would have loved this. I wish her the best.

So I get everything isn't for everyone

This book had awesome descriptions and narration. The story line was classic and timeless childhood friends to lovers but literally mid book they haven't even kissed. I wouldn't call it slow burn but the story for a pro athlete and the love if his life and vice versa just seemed to move too slow.

This is honestly the first book I've returned in 2 or 3 years. If you are looking for a "aww how cute book" this maybe is for you. If you're looking for a smutty heavy on the romance book with adults who don't spend 7 characters out of 13 or 14 fighting that they should at minimum hook up... no go a head and pass. This author is very talented... it's just not what I expected or wanted.

Great Story Great Narration...

I loved the story and knew it would be a great performance. I read another review that said something like the voice is definitely not a woman of color, "she was frustrated". I'm just wondering what makes someone feel like they can tell the color/ethnicity of someone through their voice? Women of color don't have a uniform voice. All of us sound different. Everyone at my job thgt sweet country sounding Sophie from KY was white until I showed up for a meet and greet all dark brown skin and box braids.

I love the story

I loved the book but I didnt love the narration by Ms. Hall. She is a phenomenal actress but voice acting feels different then on screen or stage. At times I struggled to connect with the emotion and I very much felt like I was being read to. Not like I was apart of the story as I do with a lot of Ms. Cole's other works. *I'M IN NO WAY SAYING SHE WAS AWFUL*. Its definitely still worth the buy... I just couldn't give it 5 stars because of that.

So I'm start by saying Keane is no Collin Fairgood, Lexi Rustenov, or Go Gutierrez but who is? However is he bad no. What I loved most about this story was most romances depict flawed hurt men who are emotionally unavailable and a woman who is so different but loving they fall for her. Lena is the emotionally unavailable one. Despite reviews saying differently she didnt encourage her child to do anything. ***SHE RESPECTED THEIR CHILD VOICE***. Lena isn't likeable to some because some ppl need the women to be super clingy damsels in distress. Lena would never be that.

The plot and story is cute. That said I had no attachment to the characters or the the relationship. I think Petra is African American... but I can't be sure, she could be a curly haired tan woman. I will not continue the series.

I love these narrators and I enjoy most of Ms. Blakely's books. which why I'm dumb founded as to why in chapter 13 I can't continue. This book is moving so slow. 13 chapters in I am bored to death... I'm sorry this book just didnt live up to my expectations.

I loved Amy's performance

The story was nice and sweet. The female characters seemed extremely well developed the guys not so much. That said there was a beautiful simple story . Even as I winced or cringed like why would she ____? I still was fully engaged because of the narrator. IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A HOT & STEAMY read please pass. If you want complex story lines please pass.

Should not be a trilogy...

This really could have been condensed in to 2 longer books instead of 3 short books. I don't mind buying the trilogy (I think cost me over $40) however this in my opinion isnt really a trilogy. I've purchased other books by Ms. March and they although cliff hangers left me wanting to know what happens. By chapter 22 the story is moving so slowly I can't care what happens next and I'm just ready to go look for another book.

I couldn't go. Even if I don't like the characters I am normally able to listened and be engrossed in the writing. The story by chapter 6 was still dragging and I just can't finish.
