Great subject, and scenario, ham fisted writing.

I so wanted to like this book. I thought it started well, but by chapter 3 the storyline and dialogue becomes very second rate.

Incredible, well researched story

I am a fan of astronomy and history, so this book hits a sweet spot for me. Learning about the early history of astro-photography and spectrography, and seeing how much they contributed to the science of astronomy is fascinating enough. But to learn of these incredible women who persevered and contributed so much is a huge bonus. Williamina Fleming, Annie Jump Cannon, Henrietta Leavitt, Cecilia Payne. Antonia Maurey and Harvard’s benefactors Anna Palmer and Catherine Bruce along with the leadership of Edward Pickering and a host of others shows how much they all had a hand in understanding the universe.
Also, the narration is the best of the over 100 Audible books I have listened. Not over the top, but distinctive enough that you can immediately recognize the character before their name is added. I have read the book, but listening to it was an absolute joy.

Of course,Paris was not destroyed before the Allies liberated it, but it would take more than four years for them to wrest control of France from Nazi Germany after they took the country by storm in about a month in 1940. That said, it's widely overlooked today given how history played out that as the power of Nazi Germany grew alarmingly during the 1930s, the French sought means to defend their territory against the rising menace of the Thousand-Year Reich.

Great overview, strong but not perfect narration.

Great story, narration painful

This is a riveting story, but the performance has 2 key problems. First, it sounds like it was recorded on my laptop when I accidentally do not have the headphones turned on. Second, the French and German
accents are horrible and distracting. They are comical, and very bad.
