Historia
For two decades, Dr. Danielle Ofri has cared for patients at Bellevue, the oldest public hospital in the country and a crossroads for the world's cultures. In Medicine in Translation she introduces us, in vivid, moving portraits, to her patients, who have braved language barriers, religious and racial divides, and the emotional and practical difficulties of exile in order to access quality health care.

A narcissist with a savior complex
Revisado: 03-14-25
I never write reviews, but this book was so awful I just had to.
The Author: This woman is so out of touch it’s unbelievable. She’s taking experiences that literally anyone who has worked in healthcare would say are just normal, everyday occurrences and is trying to make them seem like some profound moment. She acts as if recognizing that people speak different languages and have different life experiences is some shocking revelation. Her extreme narcissism is so apparent in every chapter, it’s completely insufferable. The writing itself is elementary at best; I’ve seen better writing on Wattpad.
The Narrator: I’m still not convinced this wasn’t narrated by AI. Maybe the narrator was as bored as I was with this book?
Overall, just skip it. Ten seconds of this book isn’t worth your time.
